According to local folklore, Xiangshan Temple is the place where Miaoshan Princess, the second daughter of Miaozhuang King, practices. In the past, Princess Miaoshan left home because she was not satisfied with her marriage. She went to Baique Temple in Suining, Sichuan Province. The King of Zhuang once made an imperial decree but did not return, so she set fire to Baique Temple. The Princess then gave up her own hands and eyes to cure the disease. So the princess was named "Thousand Hands and Thousand Eyes Living Bodhisattva", the Bodhisattva offered by the Xiangshan Temple. Therefore, Xiangshan preferred to spread the opera. Baique Temple, built after the Baique Temple in Xiangshan, Suining, Sichuan Province, was once called the Dolomite Temple. The temple was burnt down in 1920. At present, the Buddhist temples and scriptures are all rebuilt later. Only the statue tablets in Yongxi period (985) of the Northern Song Dynasty have been preserved.
