More than 4,000 people live at the end of the Dulongjiang Highway, the only place where the Dulong people, one of China's least populous ethnic minorities, gather. Dulongjiang Township, Dulongjiang County, Gongshan, is located in the valley area of the Dulongjiang Basin west of Gaoligong Mountain.
