This fascinating abandoned coal mining operation makes for one of the more unusual tourist sights I have seen. Accessible by a 40 min boat ride from Nagasaki. You will have to book a tour to visit. Movement is restricted to three designated viewing areas so the island loses a bit of what would otherwise be a great adventure exploring the ruins. There are no restrooms on the island. Tours are only in Japanese and should be booked in advance. Landing on the island isn't guaranteed and is unlikely in bad weather. The highlight of my visit to Nagasaki.

Duandao, the giant who attacked was shot on this island. Nowadays, the island is uninhabited and managed. Japan's modern ghost city! It's 15 kilometers away from Nagasaki. You can take a ferry to the dock.

A charming harbor where you can feel the sea breeze, seagulls, and the whistle of a ship. It's very close to the tram. To go to the Warship Island, you have to take a boat here. There are also many delicious shops.

The historical site of the Meiji Industrial Revolution in Japan, which was used as a base for undersea coal mining in Japan in 1890, was named because the island was shaped like a warship.

I'm really curious. Can the Japanese commentary tell the story of those laborers? Will there be bones buried nowhere? At least one place where compatriots are harmed should not be a place where compatriots enjoy traveling.

Located in the sea off Nagasaki, 15 kilometers from the coastline, there are special liner round trips. The island, formerly known as Dumfries Island, is said to resemble the Japanese battleship Tosa Kaga-class before World War II, so it is named. Of course, today is not very similar, a lot of concrete makes it more like a roller wheel. The island has Japan's first large concrete-filled building, originally a Mitsubishi-affiliated offshore coal mine. It is now under local jurisdiction. Many buildings are considered dangerous and only some areas are open.
