Taiwan University Hospital was founded in 1895, the site was first located in Taipa, Taipei, and moved to the current site (now known as the West Site) in 1898; it was a wooden building, and it was renovated as a Renaissance-style tropical building in 1912. The building is also very Japanese, and it is similar to Taiwan's presidential palace. Completed in 1921, it was the largest and most modern hospital in Southeast Asia at the time.
