Start at the bustling Miyagawa Morning Market, where fresh fruits and vegetables, Hida snacks, and handmade crafts create a vibrant, down-to-earth atmosphere that soothes the soul. Slowly walk to Sakurayama Hachiman Shrine. The stone steps are serene, ancient trees reach for the sky, and a gentle breeze sends cherry blossoms fluttering down, so quiet you can only hear your own footsteps. Descend the mountain and walk along the Miyagawa River. Cherry blossoms drift on the water, landing on your shoulders. Strolling along the paths, your feet are on a soft carpet of grass and fallen blossoms, and looking up, you'll be greeted by a profusion of cherry blossoms in full bloom. Pink and white petals dance in the breeze, landing on your shoulders and the wooden path, filling the air with a delicate fragrance.
The most stunning sight is the 300-year-old Gassho-zukuri houses. Their pointed roofs resemble hands clasped in prayer, simple yet solemn, quietly telling tales of bygone eras. Stepping inside, the warm, rustic wooden structure and exquisite mortise and tenon joints create an atmosphere reminiscent of a traditional Dong village, where the familiar charm of traditional Eastern architecture washes over you.

Originally, we were supposed to join a small group tour, but it was changed to a large tour bus tour because the group didn't make it. Our tour guide, Ms. Liu, was very considerate. From before departure to the return trip, she explained a lot of information to us. She was dedicated and responsible, which deserves praise. Because some members of the group were late, even though the tour guide had explained in advance that the tour bus would only wait for an extra 5 minutes, she still waited for the late members. She was very responsible. Of course, she was at ease with the members who were not on time, but she didn't understand why the whole bus was waiting for the latecomers. That's why we never like to join large group tours.★

I made a reservation around 8 PM the night before departure, and it was confirmed quickly. Our guide, Lin Ho, provided thorough and detailed explanations (consecutive explanations in four languages: Japanese, Korean, English, and Chinese, and the Korean explanations were particularly fluent and thorough). We left at 9 AM, and due to road conditions, we went to Shirakawa-go first before heading to Takayama. We stayed in Shirakawa-go for about an hour and a half (please note that this tour does not include the observatory; a 30-minute round trip walk from Shirakawa-go is sufficient). We stayed in Takayama for about two hours, and arrived at Nagoya Station around 7:10 PM. I didn't have high expectations, but it was a great way to experience the atmosphere of a mountain village and a small inland town. Although I made the reservation on short notice, I think it was a satisfying and fulfilling trip.★

The tour leader was extremely professional and polite, attentively attending to the needs of each traveler, patiently answering questions, and providing helpful information and thoughtful tips throughout the trip, making the entire journey smoother and more reassuring.

there were only less than 15 of us so we used mini bus which was a bit tight for someone who is 175cm or higher. tour guide was funny and always available to assist. departed right on time, no stress to find the meeting point. wish we were given a little more time in takeyama as the surroundings were extremely beautiful. very good price for what we got. and of course the star of the show was shirakawago which was mind blowing. highly recommended especially if you are visiting in winter★
