I was surprised by how well-organized the day trip on Ctrip was. Our guide, Yu Feipeng, started by talking about the ancient culture of Beijing. He could recite classical poetry effortlessly and had unique insights into literary figures, making it a very enjoyable and educational day. Today we not only saw the grandeur of the Great Wall, the beauty of the Summer Palace, and the tragic history of the Old Summer Palace, but also witnessed the extensive knowledge of our guide. Mr. Chen's explanations were both insightful and logical. He didn't rush to conclusions, but rather unfolded the story layer by layer, starting with the background of the Great Wall's construction, its historical context, its military function, and the sacrifices of ordinary people, placing the grand historical narrative back into the context of real people and the era. Listening to his explanations wasn't just about gaining knowledge; it was about feeling the weight and warmth of history. Beyond his professionalism, Mr. Chen's sense of responsibility and meticulousness were even more impressive. Our driver was very punctual and arrived on time. After picking us up from our hotel we headed for the Great wall. The journey was very comfortable and the car was very nice. He offered us to do a fast track service for small amount of fee and skip the shuttle bus service which would save almost 1 and half hour of time. We did this and it was worth it. We reached the cable car station directly skipping all the shuttle bus waiting hassle. After visiting the great wall, our driver was waiting patiently at the car park. We wanted to get back to the city soon to see more and make most of our day. Our driver was happy to do this and dropped us where we wanted. Good service and friendly. Thank you.
