The reservation worked; we bought roundtrip tickets from Shinjuku to Fujikawaguchiko. Both buses had restrooms. We departed Sunday morning at 7:45 AM and arrived in under two hours, and the return trip was at 8:15 PM, also in under two hours. We booked tickets a week and a half in advance, and even then they were limited. They sell out quickly during peak season, which is precisely why there's no specific time slot you reserve, only time slots. However, you can specify a preferred time slot in the support chat; they'll contact the seller, but please do so IMMEDIATELY after payment. We wanted a later departure time, which could be changed for a small fee, but ultimately we stuck with 7:45 AM. This turned out to be a good decision, as we wanted to rent bicycles, and by the time we arrived at 10 AM, the last couple of bikes were already available, and other locations were completely sold out. The e-bikes were already sold out even earlier. But back at 8:15 pm it was a bit late, nothing was really working anymore, we were sitting at the station waiting for the bus

Let me start by saying that we had a comfortable and enjoyable trip there and back. But I think I'll add some important information below, as the description of this event was a bit confusing to me. As I understand it, this is a separate carrier that also departs from bus stations (yes, stations have bus departure zones with separate exits and schedules). When booking, as stated, even if you selected a time and date, they might not be available. Our date was already inconvenient. But they offered to change it to another day, which we did. They responded quickly, but perhaps because of the translator, it was sometimes difficult to understand what was meant. I wouldn't say they were as friendly as we're used to. But I think we figured it out. Tickets are emailed separately with the changed date and time after you've confirmed it with support.
Reviews: Direct one-way express bus ticket: Tokyo to Kawaguchiko

Excellent bus! The ride was very comfortable. What was most pleasing was that it was direct, without transfers. There are charging stations on board. There was one 15-minute stop along the way with a restroom and café (see photo). We traveled from "Tokyo Station"; all directions were clear, and the waiting area was comfortable. On the way back, we arrived at Akihabara Station, an open-air stop. When leaving the lake, the bus boarding area is equipped with a waiting area (chairs, a sofa, a table, power outlets, and a restroom). We recommend this mode of transport.
Reviews: [Official Ticket] JR East Japan Rail Pass (Tohoku Area) e-ticket

Buy a voucher here, then go to the JR counter at the designated train station (I exchanged it at Sendai Station). We will then get the actual pass. It's not difficult, very convenient.

East redemption and booking. Hassle-free, especially for travelers with a lot of luggages. Highly recommended.

My first experience booking in advance was great value and more convenient than buying tickets in person. You can easily redeem your ticket at the counter using the QR code. Highly recommended!
