Reviews: Beijing The Palace Museum + Treasure Gallery + Tiananmen Square Half-Day Tour|Tickets included/Optional English guide

Guide Wang's explanations of the Forbidden City are incredibly professional! He effortlessly connects the historical context of the Ming and Qing dynasties with the architectural regulations of the palaces, providing detailed and thorough explanations of everything from mortise and tenon joinery to court anecdotes. His presentations are engaging and insightful, avoiding rote memorization. The itinerary is well-planned, avoiding crowds and allowing you to discover lesser-known facts. He patiently answers questions throughout, maintaining a perfect pace. Following him on a tour of the Forbidden City not only lets you see the sights but also deepens your understanding of the cultural heritage behind them – a truly enriching experience!
Reviews: Beijing Palace Museum - Snail Cultural Tourism [Includes Tickets + Free Treasure Tickets] Small Group Tour with Chinese and English Guide

Our tour guide, Li Xue, was very professional and polite. Her explanations were engaging and clear, and she could describe the architecture of the Forbidden City, down to every brick and tile, in great detail, sharing many interesting stories. She also interacted with the group members during her explanations. Our family was very satisfied. I highly recommend hiring a guided tour when visiting the Forbidden City.

Our trip to the National Museum has come to a perfect end. Here's a summary: 1. Absolutely, absolutely early! The queues will drive you crazy. Security checks start before you even exit the subway, then queues begin again, and then more security checks – it's incredibly time-consuming. 2. The National Museum is definitely worth a visit, especially for families with children. Joining a tour through Ctrip is quite convenient, as you don't need to scramble for tickets. 3. I highly recommend Ms. Mao. Her explanations are incredibly detailed. Our group consisted of nine people, including elderly people and children. Ms. Mao, with her extensive experience, guided us from the back of the museum to the front, avoiding peak hours and providing a fantastic experience. The children learned a lot from her explanations. Ms. Mao also made sure to consider the children's feelings, explaining exhibits in a very easy-to-understand way, which greatly benefited the children. 4. Because of our large family size and long queues, our appointment with Ms. Mao was over an hour late, but she patiently waited for us the entire time. A huge thumbs up for that! 👍

Mary reached out the day before via WhatsApp and answered my logistic questions. Overall I’m very happy I joined her tour. She is patient, upbeat, and explained well without being overwhelming. Perhaps I’m out of shape, but this ~5 hours walking tour was intense during the last hour or so. Be sure to wear comfiest shoes and bundled up! Also I’m glad Mary’s notes did mention bringing drinks and snacks with you. The snack shops inside the Forbidden City were too long to wait.

Reviews: Mutianyu Great Wall Bus Tour (Chinese, English, Spanish, and Russian language service + 5-hour sightseeing + no shopping)

Highly recommended! The tour includes information about the wall, an entrance ticket, and roundtrip transportation from Dongzhimen Station. Please note! A guide will not accompany you to the wall (they are not necessary). You must purchase cable car/sled tickets separately, or you can buy them from the guide on the bus (they are the same price). There are two routes to choose from: the red route from the 14th to the 20th towers - the most beautiful views, an uphill climb, and a roundtrip indoor funicular ride (140 yuan); the green route from the 6th to the 1st towers - the views are also beautiful, but not as breathtaking, an open funicular ride, and a sled/funnel ride (140 yuan). You can also combine them! I personally chose to only take the red route on the closed funicular and walk from the 14th to the 19th tower (I didn't have enough strength to go any further), then the return route from the 19th to the 6th tower and a sled ride! It cost 200 yuan. The whole journey took me 3.5 hours. I want to express my deepest gratitude to the guide, Maxim; he explained everything in detail, gave advice, and answered the group's questions. Thank you for the trip and the great atmosphere!
