Things to do in Yangshuo

I hiked from Shuiedi to Gongnong Bridge, a relatively short route that takes about 30-40 minutes. The scenery along the way was beautiful, with four drops. Luckily, I bought a disposable raincoat to cover my lower body, so my pants didn't get too wet, although my upper body and face were partially soaked.

The scenery is out of this world, with stunning karst mountains, calm waters, and lush greenery everywhere you look. It feels just like stepping into a traditional Chinese landscape painting. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Guilin!

The scenery was nice. The guidebook said Xiangong Mountain had more steps, so we chose Ruyi Peak instead. The section from the cable car to the viewing platform wasn't strenuous, but the section from the entrance to the cable car and from the viewing platform to the bridge was particularly tiring. We were too tired to climb the other attractions, so we finished in about an hour.

The scenery was beautiful, and the staff and boatmen were very friendly. It would be great if the scenic area could provide tour guides and hire them as needed. The sightseeing bus costs 15 yuan and takes 5 minutes. On the way there, I walked and took pictures, which took 20 minutes. On the way back, I took the bus because it was too sunny. It's worth at most 5 yuan. However, given the high price, the driver and staff were very friendly, so I just considered it paying for the service.

If you visit Yangshuo, you shouldn’t miss West Street (Xi Jie), a historic street with a history of more than 1,000 years.At night, the street becomes very lively, filled with numerous restaurants, bars, and cafés. It’s a great place to hang out with friends and enjoy the vibrant atmosphere.

It's definitely worth seeing; the night view offers a completely different experience, and it's pleasantly cool. There are singing competitions and various island games where you can win silver coins to redeem for gifts. Highly recommended for families with children.

The "A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains" is worth seeing, especially the sunset view, which is suitable for those who have trouble finding their way around. It was extremely crowded during the National Day holiday; we were stuck in traffic for two hours on the way back. Xiangong Mountain was also nice, with very beautiful scenery.

Five of us went on a river cruise in an electric bamboo raft. The bamboo forests and rocky beaches on both sides of the river were constantly changing. The river water was very clear and there were small fish. At the end, the boat stopped so we could take some photos before heading back.

Taking advantage of my free time, I set foot on this land, measuring this ten-mile scroll with my own footsteps, immersing myself in the green mountains, clear waters, and idyllic fields, and gaining an unforgettable natural journey. The Ten-Mile Gallery is not an isolated attraction, but a scenic corridor stretching for several miles, connected by National Highway 321, linking karst peaks, clear streams, and rustic fields into a flowing landscape scroll. The most enjoyable way to experience this landscape is undoubtedly to rent a bicycle and leisurely ride along the designated scenic routes. No need to rush, no need to worry about time; just let the gentle breeze caress your face and watch the scenery unfold before you, truly experiencing the exquisite feeling of "traveling through a painting." During the ride, every sight is a surprise. On both sides of the road, karst peaks rise abruptly from the ground in countless shapes, each unique and lifelike. Some resemble camels crossing a river, standing quietly on the bank as if about to wade through; others look like golden cats emerging from their dens, lively and playful, drawing your attention; still others are like fairies descending to earth, their graceful forms enhanced by the swirling clouds. These magnificent peaks, sculpted by nature's artistry, stand out clearly against the blue sky, each with its own unique story, making you marvel at the wonders of nature. In this gallery of natural beauty, the Yulong River is the most vibrant embellishment. This river, hailed as the "Little Li River," boasts emerald-green waters that are crystal clear, reflecting the verdant mountains, trees, and rice paddies on both banks. A gentle breeze ripples the surface, causing the mountain and tree shadows to sway, creating a scene reminiscent of a watercolor painting. Reaching the Gongnong Bridge offers an even more spectacular viewpoint, where the Yulong River and Jinbao River converge. Bamboo rafts glide gently by, the crisp, melodious sounds of the raftmen's poles mingling with the gentle murmur of the flowing water, composing a natural symphony. Standing on the bridge and gazing into the distance, the mountains are shrouded in mist, the water exudes a gentle charm, and the fields are scattered with wisps of smoke rising from chimneys—a tranquil pastoral landscape that instantly soothes any restlessness. The scenery along the way combines the majestic beauty of nature with the warm warmth of human life. A thousand-year-old banyan tree stands silently, its branches and leaves flourishing like a canopy, witnessing the passage of time and carrying the classic memories of the folk song "Liu Sanjie." The cobblestone path beneath it seems to still echo with the melodious folk songs. In Butterfly Spring, colorful butterflies flutter and dance, creating a picturesque scene against the backdrop of strangely shaped rocks and mountains, making one feel as if they have stepped into a fairytale world. Ancient villages are scattered throughout, with white walls and black tiles, the sounds of chickens and dogs filling the air. Villagers work in the fields, children play in the alleys, and the vibrant atmosphere adds warmth and intimacy to this landscape. Slow down and walk along every inch of the Ten-Mile Gallery, and you will feel a unique beauty. In spring, the rice paddies are a vibrant green, wildflowers bloom freely, and life abounds; in summer, the trees provide shade, the river water is cool, and the heat dissipates.

Grape Town in Yangshuo is a free spot for taking photos; its karst peaks resemble the famous Chinese painting "A Panorama of Rivers and Mountains." Climb to the viewing platform at sunset to watch the afterglow paint the peaks, and take photos in Hanfu (traditional Han clothing) or light-colored clothes for a truly ink-wash painting feel.
