Canton Tower

The Canton Tower stands on the south bank of the Pearl River, facing Haixinsha Island and Zhujiang New Town across the river. At approx. 600 m tall (including the transmission antenna), it is one of China's well-known observation towers. The tower features a hyperboloid structural design, narrower in the middle and wider at the top and bottom. Because of this distinctive slender waist shape, it is affectionately nicknamed the "Slim Waist" by locals. After nightfall, the LED lights on the tower illuminate, displaying rich colors and animated effects, making it a highly recognizable landmark on the Pearl River night skyline. Even without entering the tower, photographing the illuminated exterior along the river is a popular way to check in. The tower features multiple functional areas arranged from lower to higher levels, with sightseeing and entertainment options throughout. The lower zone includes the Pearl River photography observation deck built along the river, offering expansive views ideal for capturing panoramas of the city's central axis. At over 400 m above ground, the Baiyun and Starry Sky themed observation halls provide sweeping views of Guangzhou's new central axis and the scenery along both banks of the Pearl River. The science exhibition hall shows visitors how supertall buildings withstand strong winds and earthquakes. The tower also offers leisure spaces such as a revolving restaurant and a high-altitude tea room. The high-altitude experiences at the tower top area are particularly rich. The horizontal Ferris wheel features over ten fully transparent capsules that slowly rotate along a track at the tower top, allowing visitors to overlook the panoramic view of Guangzhou from within the capsules. The 488 m outdoor observation deck is the highest point accessible to visitors, where one can enjoy a 360-degree unobstructed view of the city from the tower summit. The vertical free-fall drop ride offers two experience modes: a "seated jump" and a "standing jump" that simulates free fall, suitable for thrill-seeking visitors. The Alpha Exploration Park combines outdoor climbing activities such as cloud walking and mid-air adventures, delivering a unique high-altitude exploration experience at different heights along the tower body.Guangzhou · 3.5 km from downtown

Nanyue King Museum-The Site of King's Tomb

4.6/5
6.3k reviews
The Museum of the Nanyue King (Royal Tomb Exhibition Area) was originally the Museum of the Western Han Dynasty Nanyue King, which opened in 1988. After the two museums merged to form the Museum of the Nanyue King in 2021, this area became the exhibition area themed around the royal tomb. It was built around the original site of the tomb of Zhao Mo, the second king of the Nanyue Kingdom of the Western Han Dynasty. This royal tomb was discovered in 1983 during construction on Xianggang Mountain on the west side of Yuexiu Mountain. It was carved into the mountain and buried deep inside the mountain. The tomb is shaped like the Chinese character "士" (shi), and is divided into seven burial chambers according to the "front court and rear palace" layout. It has been undisturbed by tomb robbers for more than two thousand years and is well preserved. The entire exhibition area consists of three parts: the ancient tomb protection area, the comprehensive exhibition building, and the main exhibition building. The original site of the tomb is preserved within the ancient tomb protection area. You can enter the original tomb site: the upper walkway offers an overhead view of the stone chamber structure. To descend to the lower level for a closer look, advance booking is usually required, with limited slots available. Even if you can't secure a spot, it won't diminish your experience of this mountain-carved royal mausoleum. Among the unearthed artifacts, the jade burial suit stands out as the signature piece. Composed of over 2,000 jade pieces threaded together with silk, it measures more than 1.7 m in length and is one of the earliest and most complete jade suits discovered in Chinese archaeology. The dragon-knobbed gold seal inscribed "Seal of Emperor Wen" found near the tomb owner's chest directly confirmed his identity. The main exhibition, "Treasures of the Nanyue Kingdom: Artifacts Unearthed from the Nanyue King Museum-The Site of King's Tomb of the Western Han Dynasty," is divided into five sections: the gold seal of Emperor Wen, treasures from the main chamber, sacrificial victims, imperial storage, and ritual bronzes. Beyond the jade suit and gold seal, you can also see the rhino horn-shaped jade cup carved from a single piece of green jade (now listed among China's prohibited overseas exhibition relics), the high-stemmed cup combining jade, gold, silver, bronze, and wood materials, as well as over ten sets of jade pendants and dozens of jade sword ornaments from the Han dynasty. The double-ring jade pendant with openwork dragon and phoenix designs was found covering the tomb owner's right eye. Its inner ring features an openwork swimming dragon, while the outer ring depicts a phoenix—this very motif became the source of the museum's emblem. The visit usually follows the order of the comprehensive exhibition building, the ancient tomb protection area, and the main exhibition building. The comprehensive exhibition building also features a special exhibition titled "Ceramic pillows donated by Mr. and Mrs. Yang Yongde," where the diverse shapes and glazes of porcelain pillows from various dynasties are easily overlooked but worth taking a few minutes to appreciate. The tomb also contains over ten sacrificial burials, corresponding to the "Sacrificial burials in the tomb" unit, offering a direct insight into the unique burial customs of the Nanyue Kingdom. If you're interested in Han Dynasty jade artifacts or the history of the Nanyue Kingdom, it's recommended to hold two to three hours for a thorough exploration.Guangzhou · 6.5 km from downtown

Yuexiu Park boasts beautiful natural scenery, making it perfect for strolling and exercising. The park's most iconic feature is Guangzhou's symbol - the Five Rams sculpture, which visitors can photograph as a souvenir. The park is lush with flowers and plants, featuring beautiful landscapes. It attracts many locals who come for hiking and exercise. Being a public park, there's no specific route to follow - most visitors come for hiking, lake viewing, taking photos at the five-goat statue, and seeing the ancient city wall. Families with children can enjoy the Golden Seal amusement park and Yuexiu Park - Dongxiu children's play area, where each attraction has a per-use charge. It consists of the main peak Yuejing Hill and surrounding hills such as Guihua Hill, Muke Hill, and Liyu Hill, along with three artificial lakes: North Xiu, South Xiu, and East Xiu. All three lakes offer cruise rides. The differences between the lakes are as follows: East Xiu Lake offers a distant view of the TV tower and features bumper boats, with a children's play area by the shore. South Xiu Lake provides a scenic overlook of Zhenhai Tower and has a large lawn by the shore, making it an ideal spot for painting and sketching. North Xiu Lake is shaded by lush greenery and features attractions like the Flower Pavilion, Lake Center Island, and Jin Garden. In addition to its natural scenery, the park is filled with numerous historical sites, including monuments, the ancient city wall of Guangzhou, and the old square fort. You can come here to savor history. If you bring your children along, you can share some historical knowledge with them while exploring.Guangzhou · 6.1 km from downtown

This olace is great for families. Lots of animals to see! We regret taking safari on wheels in the morning as we queue for more than 60mins for that. Try after 3pm when the crowd is lesser. Must see: White Tiger show, the only proboscis monkey exhibit in the whole of china, safari on wheels, panda.

I think 300 yuan per person is great value for money. It includes a free cable car ride for a panoramic view of the entire park, and a free mini-train ride for a close-up look at the animals on the African savanna – you get to see everything from different angles. We also spent 300 yuan to drive through the park and get a more intimate look at the animals – a very immersive experience. It wasn't the weekend, so it wasn't too crowded. The park staff were very responsible in their explanations. We also ordered a three-person set meal inside the park, which was a bit pricey, but reasonable for the park's price.

I’ve a great memorable and interactive time in the Chimelong International Circus. I purchased at here since I was not able to purchase in WeChat as I don’t have China phone number. The view is so great and all of the performers are just infront of me. Totally recommend this experience! It’s just a pity that it’s only 1hr! :)

"The Gift of the Nile" was almost missed; originally scheduled to close on October 11th, it has now been postponed to November 1st, seemingly leaving a final, gentle respite for those who couldn't make it. Upon entering the exhibition hall, a dynamic projection immediately catches the eye. Warm golden light spills across the walls, and the Sphinx sits serenely in the interplay of light and shadow, while the cat-headed goddess slowly emerges from the sacred pool. The temple from thousands of years ago seems to have been transported to the banks of the Pearl River, making even breathing unconsciously quiet. What truly captivates is the three complete mummies and the painted coffins. The mummy of Ta Har lies quietly in its display case, the colors on the coffin still vibrant after millennia. The patterns of deities and the hieroglyphic incantations—every stroke reflects the ancient Egyptians' solemn hopes for the afterlife.

It had been about 3 or 4 years since my last visit to Chimelong, and this year I suddenly had the urge to go for the Halloween activities. I went on October 24th, entering around 3:30 PM. There weren't many people then, but it got increasingly crowded as the night went on. Reviews said that waiting times for even one ride were at least half an hour. I heard the haunted house had become more friendly this year, not as scary, but there was still some jump scariness. I only rode "Dream Back to Lanruo," which wasn't scary, but personally, I didn't like the haunted house being too dark and difficult to navigate. At night, there were many random NPCs to take photos with, which was very nice. The evening parade was also quite impressive, but unfortunately, there were too few parade participants. I remember a few years ago when the parade was much larger. Also, there were very few places to eat, making it difficult to find a place to sit down and eat, and the prices were too expensive. A regular roast meat rice dish that costs 20-30 yuan outside costs 60-70 yuan inside Chimelong, which is a bit unreasonable. They should consider lowering the food prices appropriately.
