Bank of America Plaza is the tallest building in the southern United States, and the entire construction process took only 14 months. It sits on 3.7 acres and faces the adjoining street at a 45-degree angle, so the silhouette seen from the north and south will be larger. The building is topped by a pyramid-shaped steel frame that forms a 90-foot-tall spire, 450 square feet in size, adorned with 23-karat gold leaf. It was also the first building to be awarded the U.S. ENERGY STAR Efficiency Award.
