If you want to get away where the crowds are small, drive Gold Camp Road in its entirety. Not a smooth road, but that's ok. Tunnels, beautiful views, and maybe some wildlife. We loved it.

The views were amazing and trails were good hiking/running trails. I felt lucky to go and look forward to be able to go again :)

very cool drive with lots to see, the train tunnels are wicked cool and the scenery is everywhere. Not too crowded and close to town.
