Built in the 16th century, it adopts a mixed style of Gothic Renaissance style and is located on the former site of the university church in front of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris. Its name and status were not inherited from it until 1790. Today, although it was erected as a small church in 1951, it is still traditionally referred to as a university church.
