　From Itoigawa Station, head west toward the Sea of Japan in the city and you will reach the national highway. On the sea side of the national highway, there was Nihonkai Tenboedai. This national highway is a major national highway called ８, and there is a lot of traffic. Therefore, you have to cross the national highway to get from the station side to the observatory. But there is no pedestrian crossing. I cross through the underground sidewalk. As the name suggests, I could see the Sea of Japan from the observatory.

　National Highway ８ runs along the coastline of the city of Itoigawa. There was the Sea of Japan Observatory on the sea side of the intersection of Ekimae-dori and its national highway. The parking lot is located beside the station side of the national highway, so you have to cross the national highway to get to the observatory. However, there is a lot of traffic here and there are no traffic lights. I go to the observatory through the underground sidewalk. When you go up to the observatory, you will find the Sea of Japan at 180 °. I couldn't see the islands around here, so it was a sea as far as the eye could see.

It is about a 5-minute walk from the north exit of Itoigawa Station. The first surprise was that itoigawa Station was so close to the sea.
