There was a spring water on the right side of the gate, so it was named "Zuisenmon."
Original Text
When I passed through the Kankaimon gate built on the outside wall of Shuri Castle, the atmosphere inside the castle strengthened at once. What I could see at the end of the stone steps was the Zuisenmon. The Kaikaimon is an arched stone gate made integral with the ramparts, but this Zuiquanmon is in the shape of a yagura directly above the Shuangbi gate. "Zuisen" means "great, happy spring", but it seems that it was named because there is a spring called "Ryuhi" on the right side in front of the gate.
Following the Shureimon, the Zuisenmon was also alive. On the right side of the stairs to the gate, there is the spring water of Zuisen. Every time I see this, I think of Awamori's Zuisen. Zuisen Sake Brewery is on the other side of Shuri Castle.
There is this Zuisenmon on the Kankaimon. According to the explanation, the other name of this gate is "Hikawa Mimon". "Hi" means a gutter, and "Kawa" means a well or a fountain in Okinawa. The gate was built around 1470, but it was all destroyed in the battle of Okinawa and was restored in Heisei 4 1992. However, it is above all that I escaped the burnt down in this fire.
Impressive!
The Zuisen Gate looked really impressive when we entered. It was one of the best photo options in the lower part of the casle. A must to see!

Renovation work
The gate next to the Kaikaimon gate was under construction when we went. So I passed by without taking a picture. I have to go again (laughs).
