Photos of Shree Karni Mata Temple

The Kareni Mata Temple is located in Dishnogai, more than 30 kilometers away from Bikaner, India. It is a famous rat temple. The temple was built in memory of Kareni Mata, a goddess officially recognized by the royal families of Jodhpur and Bikaner, who lived an ascetic life and disappeared in 1538. There are thousands of rats in the temple, and they are specially protected and fed here. Among them, four or five white mice are extraordinarily sacred and are believed to be the incarnations of Kelene Marta herself and her four sons.
