My favorite 18 photos taken in 2025, both live and life~ — traveler post in Avola

My favorite 18 photos taken in 2025, both live and life~

The year is almost over. I really liked a saying I saw this year: Traveling poor or rich is not as good as traveling young. I truly believe that going out to see the world when you're old is a scam. I'm getting more and more afraid of flying, and I can no longer take long-distance buses. How can the sunset at 20 be the same as the sunset at 80? While I'm young, I want to go out and see more of the world! . Sharing some beautiful scenes I saw this year: p1 🇨🇳 Nalati, Xinjiang p2 🇬🇧 White Cliffs of Dover, UK p3 🇮🇹 Scopello, Sicily, Italy p4 🇳🇴 Lofoten Islands, Norway p5 🏴 Canterbury, UK p6 🇨🇳 Gongga Snow Mountain, Western Sichuan p7 🇭🇺 Budapest, Hungary p8 🇭🇷 Dubrovnik, Croatia p9 🇨🇳 Kunming, Yunnan p10 🇮🇹 Sicily, Italy p11 🇦🇹 Hallstatt, Austria p12 🇨🇳 Chongba Yongcuo, Tibet p13 🇲🇻 Maldives p14 🇲🇹 Valletta, Malta p15 🇬🇧 Edinburgh, UK p16 🇫🇷 Paris, France p17 🇹🇭 Phuket, Thailand p18 🇮🇹 Positano, Italy . The magnificent scenes and things you have seen—the vast Milky Way and ocean, breathtaking rugged mountains, and peaceful serene fields—will all become your life's treasures, giving you calm and powerful strength.

Do you know what torments travelers the most in Italy? — traveler post in Avola

Do you know what torments travelers the most in Italy?

🇮🇹 The most tormenting thing for travelers in Italy is not the language, nor the transportation 🚗— but the fact that the north and south of this country seem to be inhabited by multiple souls! ‼️ The north is close to Alpine civilization, the central region inherits the Renaissance lineage, the south blends with various Mediterranean civilizations, and Sicily is a cultural stage where Greek, Arab, Norman, and Baroque influences overlap. ⚠️ "The root cause of these differences is not simply 'regional variation,' but that Italy was formed from countless independent city-states, kingdoms, and civilizations layered from its very inception. The Alps, the Apennines, the Mediterranean climate zone, and multiple cultural inputs create a strong sense of 'zoning' in Italy’s landscapes and city characters." ‼️ It is precisely because of these huge contrasts that many travelers wanting to visit Italy suffer from 'choice paralysis.' ► Choose the north, and you miss the vitality of the south; ► Choose the south, and you regret missing the natural theaters of the north; ► Try to compromise, and you’ll realize: Italy is a country that must be 🧩 "read in pieces." ✈️ Most people’s first trip to Italy follows this golden route: Rome, Milan, Florence, Pisa, Venice, Cinque Terre... These cities are classic must-visit destinations beyond dispute: ► Rome’s density of imperial ruins is unbeatable worldwide ► Florence’s art museums are like city-level textbooks ► Venice is Europe’s only “floating republic” ► Cinque Terre brings colorful coastlines to the international stage ... ✅ But—this is just “entry-level Italy.” What will truly redefine Italy for you are the following regions: ❶ Northern Italy Dolomites 🌲 Italy’s hidden Alpine “fairyland” ▪ At sunset, the rock faces glow a phosphorescent pink-orange, called the “flame-colored mountains” by photographers ▪ The Tre Cime, Alpine meadows, and glacial lakes create the most visually striking natural scenes ▪ Lakes like Lago di Braies and Lake König have equally stunning colors in Italy ▪ The hiking trails and cable car systems here rival Switzerland’s but are more budget-friendly 📝 There are no red tile roofs or small bridges and streams here; it’s more like a secret Alpine realm hidden in Italy. ❷ Central Italy Tuscany 🖼️ The cradle of the Renaissance, the core “texture” of Italian culture Tuscany’s beauty lies not in single spots but in its spatial sense. ▪ Cypress-lined paths connect farms, wineries, and golden wheat fields ▪ Vineyards, stone-built estates, morning mist, and sunsets together form the “world’s closest region to a pastoral poem” ▪ Medieval hill towns like Montalcino, Pienza, and Siena retain intact city walls and ancient streets ▪ Florence is not only the hometown of Leonardo da Vinci and Michelangelo but also the source of the European aesthetic system 📝 Tuscany’s scenery is not just to be seen but truly understood by walking into it. Anyone who understands Italian travel will definitely stop at this central region. ❸ Southern Italy Amalfi 💎 The beauty of southern Italy is direct, passionate, and warm. The Amalfi Coast is one of Italy’s most recognizable coastlines: ▪ Positano’s colorful houses cascade down the hillside to the sea ▪ By day, it’s the blue of the Mediterranean; by night, the warm golden glow of cafés ▪ Capri Island has the Blue Grotto, cliffside trails, and luxurious towns, a traditional aristocratic vacation spot ▪ From Amalfi to Ravello, dramatic cliff landscapes stretch all along 📝 This is Italy’s most romantic route and the reason countless movies are filmed here. ❹ Southern Italy Puglia 🃏 If Amalfi is a postcard, Puglia and Matera are “Italy’s soul portraits.” ▪ Alberobello’s Trulli dome houses are a unique architectural system in the world ▪ Puglia’s white hill towns (Ostuni, Monopoli) seem to grow out of the sunlight ▪ Matera’s Sassi cave dwellings are called “one of the world’s oldest continuously inhabited towns,” with layered cave homes and night scenes like stepping into biblical times ▪ The cuisine focuses on olive oil, seafood, and handmade orecchiette pasta, embodying the essence of southern Italian food culture 📝 This is Italy’s region that feels least European but most like the Mediterranean’s origin. ❺ Southern Italy Sicily Island 🏝️ Sicily is Italy’s most layered puzzle piece: ▪ Agrigento’s “Valley of the Temples” will make you feel like you’re in ancient Greece ▪ Taormina combines a Greek theater with coastal scenery in one frame ▪ Norman, Arab, Byzantine, and Baroque cultures overlap here without conflict ▪ Mount Etna, island coastlines, and ancient towns form a “condensed history of Mediterranean civilization” 📝 If you only visit Italy once, Sicily can make your itinerary extremely dense. So, what torments you most in Italy is that you must face all these vastly different beauties at once. Missing any one region will leave regrets. ► If you have both time and money 💰, then don’t choose—go to them all!

Ten Days in Sicily: Touching Time Between Citrus and Volcanic Ash — traveler post in Avola

Ten Days in Sicily: Touching Time Between Citrus and Volcanic Ash

Stepping out of Catania Airport, the salty sea breeze carrying the scent of citrus embraced me. The taxi drove along the foothills of Mount Etna, the distant gray-black mountain dotted with patches of snow, while at its base stretched vast lemon groves, the bright yellow fruit like scattered fragments of sunlight on green velvet—this was Sicily’s first gift to me: an extreme contrast. I stayed in Taormina for three days. Early in the morning, avoiding tour groups, I walked up the old town’s stone-paved streets, where every doorstep displayed terracotta pots filled with wild chrysanthemums or bougainvillea. The stone columns of the ancient Greek theater glowed warm white in the morning light; sitting here watching the sea was wonderful. The Ionian Sea, dark blue, stretched to the horizon, and the silhouette of the volcano appeared faintly, as if the Greek tragedies from two thousand years ago still echoed in the wind. In the evening, I went to a seaside restaurant and ordered squid ink pasta; the sauce stained my fingers black. Looking up, I caught the fiery orange sunset sinking into the sea. The waiter smiled and handed me a lemon sorbet, the sweet and sour instantly balancing the richness of the seafood. After leaving Taormina, I went to Syracuse. The alleys of Ortigia Island were like a maze; around a corner, I suddenly encountered the square from the movie "Malèna." The Baroque building reliefs were clearly visible under the sunlight. Sitting outside a café in the square, I watched elderly people slowly walking their dogs, the ice cream cart jingling, and mint-green walls covered with vines. Time seemed to slow down here. The final stop was Palermo. The markets were crowded with people; vendors shouted in Sicilian dialect, selling fresh figs and almond sweets. Tuna chunks piled like small mountains, and the spice stalls emitted a mixed aroma of cinnamon and saffron. The mosaics in Monreale Cathedral took my breath away; the religious stories on the golden background seemed to come alive in the dim light. Leaving the cathedral, the scent of arancini (fried rice balls) wafted from a bakery at the alley’s entrance. Biting into the crispy shell, the hot flow of cheese and meat sauce instantly filled my mouth. On the day I left, the plane flew over Mount Etna, and the island outside the window gradually shrank, becoming a piece of amber on the blue sea. I realized that Sicily’s charm is never just a single landscape; it is the land nourished by volcanic ash, the fusion of ancient Greek and Arab cultures, and a honeyed tangerine handed by a stranger on the street—every moment here warmly embraces life.

Immersive Theater Experience on the Rooftop Terrace — traveler post in Avola

Immersive Theater Experience on the Rooftop Terrace

Between the tables unfolds a breathtaking panoramic vista of Capri: the staggered rooftops of villages, the timeless beauty of the historic center, and the distant silhouettes of the Bay of Naples and Capri's limestone cliffs. Each evening, live performances blend Mediterranean rhythms with Deep House, elevating the atmosphere to its peak. Every Thursday, the rooftop transforms into a retro "Back to the 80s" themed party, evoking nostalgic summer night vibes. 【Crudo Open Kitchen · Dawn of the Sea】 Before the tide recedes, the chef presents the bounty of the Mediterranean on ice-glazed porcelain plates. The fatty tuna belly glows like pink amber, its rich marbling melting on the tongue like waves kissing the shore. The salmon belly, textured with the sweetness of morning mist, is paired with hand-pressed lemon juice and extra virgin olive oil, its acidity as bright as Sicilian sunlight yet never harsh. Most astonishing are the local red prawns—their shells thin as cicada wings, their flesh bursting with a sweetness akin to spilling a jar of honey, finishing with a hint of briny seaweed—a flavor signature unique to Capri’s coastline. 【Chef’s Recommendation · Land and Sea Duet】 Slow-roasted sea bass arrives cloaked in saffron cream sauce, its skin charred amber over charcoal, cracking to reveal snow-white flesh as tender as moonlight on waves. The sauce, golden with local saffron, weaves the richness of cream with the freshness of herbs, as if bottling the lemon groves of the Amalfi Coast and the mineral essence of Mount Vesuvius in one dish. 【Dessert Poetry · Finale of a Summer Night】 As the vintage dessert cart with brass handles glides to the table, the air fills with whispers of vanilla pods and fresh raspberries. The signature Torta Caprese, made with almond flour instead of wheat, conceals a molten dark chocolate core—slice into it, and lava flows, its bittersweet rhythm reminiscent of the legendary tales of poet Hiddigeigei. Seasonal sorbet features just-picked bergamot, its sharp acidity cooled by elderflower frosting, while pistachio ice cream carries the warmth of Sicilian sun, each scoop brimming with Mediterranean greenery. The finale is the chef’s limoncello jelly, its citrus and liquor notes dancing on the palate like a tipsy tarantella on the terrace. 【Caviar & Champagne · Ode to Time】 Oscietra caviar glistens like pearls on a mother-of-pearl spoon, its initial brininess giving way to nutty, buttery sweetness, paired with rye crisps and crème fraîche—a Byzantine mosaic of flavors. Beluga caviar, liquid gold with gem-like pearls, is adorned with minced egg yolk and chives, luxury tempered with rustic charm. The 2008 Krug Champagne, its bubbles rising like stardust, harmonizes honeyed toastiness with the caviar’s salinity, evoking the swirling skirts in Sargent’s painting of Rosina. A Rooftop Steeped in Time This historic terrace once housed Locanda Pagano, Capri’s first hotel, opened in 1822 and beloved by artists and dreamers. Legend has it that Rosina, a young muse, danced here at sunset, her grace immortalized in John Singer Sargent’s 1878 masterpiece *View of Capri*. Rumor also whispers that poet J.V. von Scheffel once lingered here with his legendary cat, Hiddigeigei, savoring leisurely hours under the sky. Francis Sultana’s Vision Bianca Rooftop Restaurant, crafted by renowned designer Francis Sultana, seamlessly blends Capri’s eternal natural beauty with modern vibrancy. At its heart, a marble-inlaid bar stands as a visual centerpiece, an inspired space for creative cocktails and romantic nightscapes.

Chasing the scenes from "Malèna" to Siracusa — traveler post in Avola

Chasing the scenes from "Malèna" to Siracusa

The turbulent history has left Siracusa with a kind of decaying beauty This is my second favorite small town in Sicily The morning fish market is filled with the scent of swordfish and lemons Locals bargain in Sicilian dialect While around the corner you might suddenly encounter a Norman-style archway Every inch of scenery here looks like a frame from "Malèna" The square where Malèna once walked still has me sitting there daydreaming In the afternoon, at the end of an alley, you'll find Cala Rossa This isn't a traditional sandy beach Only porous lava formed from volcanic eruptions The platform carved by tides forms natural bathtubs We sprawl on the rocks basking in sunlight The near-shore seawater is transparent light green, like mint liqueur Further out it gradually deepens into an intense blue Reminding you it's the same sea Archimedes once gazed upon The beauty of Siracusa lies in its contradictions It's both the land of wisdom where Archimedes moved the earth with a lever And the everyday corner where fishermen mend their nets The grandeur of ancient Greece and the sweetness of the Mediterranean finally reconciled · "Syracuse where the sun always shines" · 🧾Sharing my itinerary Local market→Temple of Apollo→Piazza del Duomo→Siracusa Cathedral→Castello Maniace→Cala Rossa→Cod da Saretta (great value delicious restaurant) · I'm Zoey, exploring the world beyond boundaries with you🗺️

Enjoy a Summer of Drinks at DG CAFFÈ DOLCE&GABBANA — traveler post in Avola

Enjoy a Summer of Drinks at DG CAFFÈ DOLCE&GABBANA

I've been longing for DG CAFFÈ DOLCE&GABBANA for a long time! The vibrant colors of Sicily, bold patterns, and full Mediterranean vibes—I’ve been eager to experience it. This time, I came across the "Summer of Drinks" event by Ding Shi Ju, and the moment I saw the snack sets, my eyes lit up! The first snack set lets you choose one drink from a variety of wines. I decisively picked the classic Italian Aperol Spritz. This drink is made with Aperol, Prosecco, soda water, and citrus, with a bright and captivating color and a burst of orange aroma. It looks like it’s captured the passionate summer of Sicily in a glass. Paired with Sicilian fried rice balls, one sip and one bite, the rich Sicilian flavor blooms on your tongue. There’s also another amazing set with a bottle of Taylor Prosecco sparkling wine. The golden bubbles rise in the glass, creating a strong sense of ceremony. It’s paired with an Italian fried seafood platter, featuring large pieces of seafood fried to golden crispness, tender and juicy with every bite. The event runs until July 31. #
