Charming Stay with Historical Touches — traveler post in Bournemouth

Charming Stay with Historical Touches

Chose this place for its historical charm and romantic appeal, and thoroughly enjoyed exploring the pictures, captions, and artifacts on display. Stayed in the 'Oscar Wilde' room, which was incredibly comfortable. Breakfast at The Derby Manor across the road was delightful—a great buffet and excellent cooked options. The front-of-house waitress was very friendly and attentive. The evening bar there offered an intimate setting, perfect for mingling with other guests in a communal lounge. Overall, a lovely stay. The complimentary tea, coffee, and water available throughout the day was much appreciated. My only minor critique is that the breakfast music was a bit lively for the morning—perhaps more soothing, ambient tunes would work better to start the day.

A Delightful Visit to a Hidden Gem — traveler post in Bournemouth

A Delightful Visit to a Hidden Gem

I’d been eager to visit this museum for a while, so it was great to finally go today. There’s ample parking nearby; we parked on East Cliff, just a two-minute walk away. Admission was £12.50 per person, including Gift Aid. At the start, there’s an engaging video about Annie and Merton Russell-Cotes, who owned the house. Their extensive travels and wealth allowed them to collect art and furnish their home in great style. The sea views are stunning, and there are remarkable paintings, sculptures, and classic high Victorian decor to admire. The café was impressive as well. My husband, who needs gluten-free options, loved the butternut and sweet potato soup with a gluten-free roll. I enjoyed a cheesy cheese scone. We ended our visit with a trip to the well-stocked shop before exploring the beautifully maintained garden outside. If I lived closer, I’d definitely get an annual membership. This museum is truly a treasure.

Perfect Wedding Experience at The Nici — traveler post in Bournemouth

Perfect Wedding Experience at The Nici

We got married at The Nici in September 2026, and we genuinely couldn’t recommend The Nici and our incredible wedding coordinator, Kayleigh, enough. From our very first visit, we felt welcomed, heard, and supported through the entire process. Kayleigh was truly amazing—she took time to listen to both my husband and me, ensuring that no request felt like too much trouble. Every detail we discussed was carefully tracked during the planning, and seeing them come to life on our wedding day was truly special. The team even surprised us with thoughtful extra touches, making the day feel even more personal and memorable. The Nici is stunning, featuring a stylish and modern aesthetic that made for an ideal wedding setting. The staff were also exceptional—friendly, attentive, and genuinely caring. Special recognition goes to Kayleigh and Thomas, who went above and beyond to ensure everything went smoothly during the setup and the wedding itself. Their efforts allowed us to relax and fully enjoy every moment of our special day. We couldn’t have asked for a better venue or team for our celebration. A heartfelt thanks to everyone at The Nici, especially Kayleigh and Thomas, for making our wedding day absolutely unforgettable. 🤍

Unassuming Exterior, Stunning Inside, and an Unforgettable Anniversary Meal — traveler post in Bournemouth

Unassuming Exterior, Stunning Inside, and an Unforgettable Anniversary Meal

The exterior may not be the highlight, but once inside, the decor, bars, and restaurant are stunning. We were warmly welcomed upon arrival and enjoyed a complimentary drink at the bar. The staff were incredibly helpful with our luggage. Our spacious 4th-floor room had all the essentials and a pleasant view. We had pre-booked a table at the restaurant, which offered a 20% discount on the bill—a fantastic deal. The food quality and service, especially from Shamia, were outstanding. We started with Tempura battered Tiger Prawns and a chili jam dip, which were delicious. For the main course, I had a perfectly cooked Sirloin Steak with peppercorn sauce, mushrooms, a leafy salad, chips, and a glass of Malbec. My wife chose the Sea Bream Fillet along with a glass of Amoranza Verdejo, both of which were excellent. The restaurant's beautiful decor enhanced the entire dining experience. For dessert, I picked a Vanilla Cheesecake, while my wife opted for Strawberry Eton Mess. We shared both and enjoyed them equally. I complemented dessert with a Hennessy VS Brandy on ice, while my wife had a Ruby Port. It was the best wedding anniversary meal we've ever had—10/10. After a restful sleep in the comfortable bed, we returned to the restaurant for breakfast. The high-quality standard was consistent, offering a great variety of hot and cold items.
