Guest User: Basically, you'll have a view at the Niangzi Pass Section of the Great Wall! The owners are extremely friendly. It's a bit tricky to find. Coming from the gate to the Great Wall and Ancient City you have to pass the Ancient City (village:-). At the upper exit from the village you just step into YiShanJu Homestay (right hand side). Once paid at the entrance for the Great Wall the stuff will let you pass multiple times, if you tell them that you'll stay at YiShanJu.

Shanxi Ningwu 2 Days 1 Night Travel Guide
Here is a 2 days 1 night travel guide for Ningwu, Shanxi: Preparation · Documents: Bring your ID card, student ID, and other necessary documents. · Clothing: In September, there is a large temperature difference between morning and evening in Ningwu, Shanxi. Prepare a thick jacket. Thicker clothing is needed when visiting Wannian Ice Cave, where the temperature inside can drop to -5℃. Shijiazhuang Autumn Road Trip | Go to the mountains to pick persimmons and black dates, and enjoy the autumn scenery
Summer has finally retired, and we have arrived at that season of comfortable temperatures, perfect for easy travel. In spring, we call it "spring outings," and in autumn, it's "autumn appreciation." However, the autumn red leaves often turn red in a rather nonchalant way. Many places are flooded with tourists before the leaves even turn red. We only had half a day, so instead of joining the crowds, we decided to take a drive into the mountains, with Liulin River as our destination. It's free, the scenery is natural, and you can pick persimmons and black dates. As for red leaves, there are a few, but there are more crops, rivers, water birds, and small vegetable gardens prepared for winter. The main thing is that it's uncrowded and there are no traffic jams. We visited Liulin River in winter to see the ice waterfalls, and the scenery was quite nice. It is also one of the four major tributaries on the north bank of the Hutuo River. For reference, see the guide: Shijiazhuang free one-day light hiking trip, enjoy ice waterfalls, play in the powder snow, and watch the sunset. By now, we have basically seen what the major tributaries on the north bank look like in summer and autumn. The road along the Liulin River is about 60 kilometers long. Pingling Village, at the end of the northern section, is the fire prevention checkpoint on the way to Tuoliang every winter. Previously, when the mountain road from Wuyuezhai to Tuoliang was under construction, you could go to Tuoliang along the Liulin River. This time, due to time constraints, we only drove about a third of the way, turning back at Dong'an Village. We might try to drive the whole route if we have the chance in the future. Just as you enter the vicinity of Liulin River, there are villages where you can eat. After driving for a while, I discovered there were apple and peach orchards nearby. I am certain there were peach trees and peaches; they must have been a late-ripening variety, as they weren't ready for picking, and there were no roadside stalls. Persimmon trees are scattered throughout the river valley; some are right by the roadside, while others are on the opposite bank. If you have tools, it's easier to pick them; if not, just enjoy the view. There are also many relatives of the persimmon, the black date tree, with mini-sized persimmon shapes. They are likely grafted. They taste soft and sweet, but the aftertaste is very astringent, lingering for about four to five hours. There aren't many red leaves on this road, and we only drove a third of the way, so we don't know what the scenery is like further on. The road conditions were excellent, and there is a newly built mountain road connecting to the Tangliu Line, making the journey smooth and unobstructed. The water in the Liulin River along the road isn't very deep, but it is clearer than the Hutuo River, and there are many birds foraging in the river. I spotted some egrets, and a black bird flew away, though I'm not sure what kind of large bird it was. There are also many places where you can get down to the water to play; just park your car in a spot that doesn't obstruct traffic. If you want to see red leaves, you can check out the following scenic spots and wild mountains. Jingxing paid scenic spots: Xianlai Mountain, Jinshan Mountain, and Qingliang Mountain in the mining area. Jingxing free wild mountains: Daliyan, Xishan Cuigu, Doujiazhai, Lumingling, Longfeng Mountain, Shuxiang Manguy, Sanguan Mountain, Heishuiping, etc. Pingshan free wild mountains: Yujia Mountain, Maluonao, Zhuangwang Village, Shajiutuo, and the area around Eshi Village. You can pick any mountain peak, search for a trail map, and set off. Yangquan paid scenic spot: Hongyanling. Xingtai free scenic spot: Fozhao Mountain. Luquan Liuxiang Valley and the Western Evergreen area are also good options, and Songshuling is quite famous, though it tends to be crowded with cars and people.

It's uncrowded and the perfect choice for a weekend escape from the city 🥰 ✅ Best time to visit 🌟 April–May: Spring flowers are in bloom, and the Taihang Mountains are fresh. September–October: Crisp autumn air, colorful foliage, and perfect for photos. Summer: The mountains are cool and great for escaping the heat. Niangzi Pass is located 45 km northeast of Pingding County, Shanxi Province, in the middle section of the Taihang Mountains, on the border between Shanxi and Hebei provinces. It faces Jingxing County, Hebei Province, to the east and guards Yangquan City, Shanxi Province, to the west, serving as a vital throat-like passage connecting the North China Plain with the Shanxi Plateau. The pass is built against the mountains and by the water, surrounded by the Tao River, forming a natural barrier where "two mountains stand on either side with a river flowing through the middle." It has been a strategic military location since ancient times. Ancients described it as "overlooking Yan and Ji to the east, and peering into the three Jins to the west." Controlling this pass meant controlling the thoroughfare between Shanxi and Hebei, earning it the reputation as the "shield of the capital region." Formerly known as "Weize Pass," this majestic pass spanning the Taihang Mountains is both a witness to history's battles and a natural landscape painting where mountains and water blend. It’s a comfortable pace and great value for your money. 🗓️ 3-Day Itinerary Suggestion: Majestic Passes, Landscapes, and Hot Springs Day 1: Niangziguan Pass + Guguan Great Wall, see two types of Great Wall in one day In the morning, take the direct bus from Pingding County to Niangziguan Pass (approx. 1 hour, ticket price around CNY 15). Known as the "Ninth Pass Under Heaven," the pass city, waterfall, and water-side dwellings are all worth seeing. The waterfall creates a lot of mist, so be sure to wear non-slip shoes. For lunch, grab a Pingding clay pot feast on the pedestrian street at the scenic area exit.
