Guest User: The hotel was better than we expected. We first walked in to a beautiful hotel and were immediately greeted by the staff. All staff were very friendly and helpful In the lobby area there is plenty of comfortable seating and an area with tables there’s a food area in the lobby and there’s a pool table near the entrance of the bar. The bar’s decor was very nice and there was also an outdoor area which leads to the walking trail The indoor pool area was very clean and nice. They have towels available and a bathroom in the pool area. The pool was at a perfect temperature we enjoyed the pool. The rooms are clean and comfortable the hotel is conveniently located to anything that you might like. Besides the walking trail that overlooks the harbor. Destiny mall is only a couple blocks away. It is close to other shops and eateries the highways are close as well as gas stations and downtown. I highly recommend going there for any kind of stay business or leisure. I can’t wait to go back.

#travelsafetytips Syracuse has a canal running right through its downtown, and the Erie Canal walk is the easiest way to understand the city’s industrial past. The towpath is flat, well maintained and lined with old warehouses that now hold restaurants, offices and the kind of public art that makes you stop without meaning to. Our group walked from the museum district to Clinton Square, then followed the locks until the brewpub appeared like a planned destination. Stay in a rental near Armory Square. Syracuse is compact and walkable, and you will not need a car for most of the weekend. Use rideshares at night and stay in well-lit, populated areas. Safety note: the canal and its locks are active. Stay behind the railings, keep children close, and do not climb on the lock gates—they are working machinery. The Clinton Square locks are the historical highlight. Walk across them slowly and try to imagine the mules, the barges and the volume of cargo that once moved through here. With friends, the brewpub is the social reward. Order flights, share a pretzel, and argue about which old building used to be what. Group travel here is relaxed, inexpensive and easy to extend by another round.

I drove from Seattle at 08:00, parked free at the south lot (the Front Street garages fill by 10:30 on weekends), and walked the 300 m of Front Street at 11:00 — false timber framing, cuckoo clocks, but the moss is in the side lanes: the Waterfront Park path along the Wenatchee River has moss on the cottonwood roots 2 cm thick, 14°C in April, a dipper bouncing on the rocks. Café stop: The Gingerbread Factory on Front Street for a 5 USD latte and a 4 USD almond horn, or Louis Coffee (European pastries, real-melted hot choc 4.50 USD) — both card ok. I sat at Louis's curb bench at 11:40, the moss on the building's north wall still wet, accordion music leaking from Andreas Keller across the street, and ate the horn watching the Icicle Ridge snowline. For a real alpine-moss walk, drive 10 min to Icicle Gorge Trail (USFS, free) — old-growth cedar with moss 5 cm thick, 2 mi loop, no crowds. Mistake: I came Oktoberfest Saturday — Front Street shoulder-to-shoulder, no seating; April weekday for the moss-light. Another: Stevens Pass chains required Nov–Mar; check WSDOT before driving. Would you do Leavenworth's 11:00 Front Street latte + 4 USD almond horn with a side walk to Icicle Gorge mossy cedar loop, or skip the village and hike Tumwater Canyon instead?

The "Light Spectacle" at Franklin Square has become a signature winter event in Philadelphia. This free light show takes place every 30 minutes (from 5 PM until park closing) in the square, featuring over 1,000 twinkling lights perfectly synchronized with seasonal music. This year, the synchronized performance includes seven songs (two per show), played in rotation. The light show opened on Thursday, November 20, and will continue until January 4, 2026.
