Photos of Luxor Museum

The Luxor Museum is not amazing, but it houses the representative cultural relics of Thebes as the capital of the New Kingdom, telling the world the all-powerful years of Thebes in the past. The main building faces the Nile River and is quite imposing, surrounded by green trees. Located in the very center of the Luxor Temple and Karnak Temple, the museum was inaugurated in 1975 and displays relics unearthed in the vicinity of Luxor. The museum has two floors and is not large in scale. It is displayed in a corridor style, with new lighting and display methods. The museum displays sculptures, pottery, and jewelry from the New Kingdom period, especially the stone sculptures, most of which come from the Karnak Temple. The exhibits have been carefully selected and each one is very representative. In addition, the museum also exhibits two royal mummies, the founders of the seventeenth and eighteenth dynasties of Egypt, lying quietly in a small black exhibition hall opened for this purpose.
