Pengzhou Library was founded in 1960 and has a history of more than 40 years. After years of development, Pengzhou Library has developed into a national first-class library with relatively complete functions, complete equipment and facilities, and a large collection of books among city, district and county libraries. After the "5.12" earthquake, the Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government attached great importance to the development of the library and listed the construction of the new library as a post-disaster reconstruction project. In 2009, with the support of the central finance and local finance, the new Pengzhou Library with a total investment of 19.86 million yuan was officially launched on April 23, 2011 and opened to the citizens of the city. The new museum covers an area of 10 acres and is built on 4 floors, with a total area of 4,000 square meters. The new library has realized the transformation from the traditional library to the digital library field. In addition to the original external service window, the Pengzhou library website, electronic reading room, digital library, children's green Internet space, and government information have also been added.
