Wat Phra Ram

Photos of Wat Phra Ram

This is a temple built on the site of the cremation of the first king. It is large and worth seeing among the many ruins. According to the chronicle, in 1369, the second king of Ayutthaya, Lamei Xuan, chose the cremation place for his father, the first king. The graceful Khmer-style stupa that tourists see today was built in the 15th century when King Bauermatrokana remodeled the temple. The architectural style of the temple is close to the Khmer style. The beautiful stupa shaped like corn is fascinating. The stupa is decorated with Garuda Garuda, snakes and walking Buddha statues, which are luxurious and exquisite. There are many different styles of pagoda buildings juxtaposed here, and square cloisters composed of stone Buddha statues. There are many pagodas in the temple, combining the characteristics of Khmer pagoda, Ceylon pagoda, Sri Buddha Pagoda and so on.
