Changle Park was founded in 1956 as Hansenzhai Nursery, covering an area of 333.33 mu, and was one of the largest nurseries in Xi'an at that time. In 1976, in order to put a batch of tropical animals presented by Japan, Hansenzhai Nursery was converted into Xi'an City Zoo, and officially opened to tourists in 1977, and since then, it has become a landmark in the eastern suburbs of Xi'an. In 2004, due to space restrictions and the increase in the number of animals, the original area could not meet the needs, so Xi'an established the Qinling Wildlife Park, and all the original animals were relocated to the Qinling Mountains. Since 2005, Xi'an Municipal Committee and Municipal Government have invested 22 million yuan in Changle Park, carried out infrastructure transformations, gradually dismantled various facilities in the park for animal services, and built 9 new attractions such as Hehuan Garden, cherry blossom forest, and Footprint Square. The garden square and green space total 13,650 square meters, officially named Changle Park, and opened to the public free of charge in January 2006.
