里斯本的地形高低错落，所以就成就了很多类型的升降机产生。这个升降机与圣胡斯升降机不同，圣胡斯是直上直下的，更像现在的电梯；而这个是沿着斜坡缓慢上下的，如果一定要形容，那就更像现在的自动扶梯，虽然也不是那么贴切。
