Seattle has quite a few amazing parks, but this, I'd say, is the city's equivalent to NYC's Central Park. It's a sprawling property with many sections to be explored, located conveniently somewhere between Capitol Hill and the University of Washington. What I love most about this park is the variety. It's easy to stroll through secluded sections with trees overhanging and still ponds flanking the tiny trails, or to hike up to a higher point and get a nice, open view of the surrounding neighborhoods. There's a huge variety of plant life, with sections devoted to different plant families, so you can learn a bit about them if you like. Personally, I love just taking a picnic and setting up a spot in the shade or in the sun to simply enjoy the lovely outdoors.
