Tonghua

Tonghua is situated in the southeast of Jilin province on the banks of the Yalu River, which forms the border with DPRK. It has a pleasant climate and is rich in resources. In winter, Tonghua is an excellent skiing destination, home to a number of large skiing resorts. There are also more than 10,000 ancient tombs from the Korean kingdom of Goguryeo, some of which are more than 2000 years old. The pyramid-shaped tomb of King Jangsu is located here, known locally as the 'Pyramid of the East'. The area has been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
