在山西运城市解州镇西关。北靠银湖（盐池），面对中条山，景色秀丽。解州东南10公里常平村是三国蜀将关羽的原籍，故解州关帝庙为武庙之祖。创建于隋开皇九年（公元589年）,宋，明时曾扩建和重修，清康熙四十一年（1702年）毁于火，经十余年始修复。
