The Jixi Longchuan scenic area is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction officially approved by the National Tourism Administration, located in Longchuan Village, Jixi County, southern Anhui. It is an ancient village where the Hu family has lived together for a thousand years. The Longchuan tourist scenic area combines cultural and natural landscapes. The Hu's Ancestral Hall is known as the number one ancestral hall in southern China, and is also referred to as the 'Wood Carving Art Museum' and the 'Hall of National Arts.' The Yishi Shangshu Fang is a stone archway from the Ming dynasty, representing the pinnacle of Huizhou stone carving. In 1988, it was designated as a national key cultural relics protection unit. It is located in Longchuan Village, Jixi County, southern Anhui, and is an ancient village where the Hu family has lived together for a thousand years. Longchuan Village is an ancient village with a history of more than 1600 years. Originally, this place was a barren river beach overgrown with Vitex trees and was known as Jinglinli because it was rich in golden (Vitex) honey. In 318 AD, Hu Yan, with the title of Sanqi Changshi, led troops to guard Shezhou. In the third year of Xiankang (337 AD), Hu Yan traveled from Huayang Town and came here. Seeing the terrain with 'Dragon Peak rising to the east, Cock's Comb standing to the west, Celestial Horse galloping up from the south, and the long stream (Dengyuan River) meandering from the north,' he admired the beautiful mountains and waters and settled in Jinglinli at the mouth of Longchuan with his clan (from 'Longchuan Hu Family Genealogy'). Thus, Hu Yan became the ancestor of the Longchuan Hu family. In the second year of Yongtai of the Tang Dynasty (766 AD), Jixi County was established from the division of She County's Huayang Town, and Longchuan was part of it. Throughout the dynasties, the affiliation of Huizhou Prefecture and Jixi County often changed, but Longchuan always belonged to it. The Ming Dynasty was the heyday of Longchuan Village's development. The village had a large population, a prosperous economy, and placed great emphasis on the imperial examinations, becoming the famous 'Jinshi Village.' More than ten people from the village became Jinshi, among whom the most famous were Hu Fu, who became the Jinshi in the 14th year of the Chenghua period (1478 AD) and rose to the positions of Taizi Shaobao and Nanjing Minister of the Household, and Hu Zongxian, who became Jinshi 60 years later in the 17th year of the Jiajing period (1538 AD) and rose to the positions of Taizi Taibao and Minister of the Military Department. During the prosperous Ming Dynasty, the village's architecture had already covered the entire range of Longchuan's 'boat-shaped village.' Since the Qing Dynasty, Longchuan gradually declined. The villagers' official careers were no longer as prominent as in the Ming Dynasty, the population slowly decreased, many buildings gradually collapsed, and the range of village buildings also gradually shrank from the entire boat-shaped village to mainly the settlements north of the Longchuan River. Entering the new century, the People's Government of Jixi County, in accordance with the national and provincial government's documents and regulations on the protection of historical and cultural cities, formulated a 'protection plan' for Longchuan Village centered around Longchuan Water Street. The plan combines the protection of the water street and the history of the ancient village with the social and economic development, village infrastructure construction, and improvement of residents' living conditions, to adapt to the development of a well-off society and the tourism industry.
