Do you still not know the places in Shanghai suitable for a City walk?
I used to always go to Shanghai, but I never had the time to stop and truly appreciate the alleyways and historic Western-style buildings behind this bustling city. Recently, I came across photos from almost a decade ago, and they still attract me to visit again and again.
This is the WuKang Building, once known as the Normandie Apartments, located at No. 1850, Middle Huaihai Road, Xuhui District, Shanghai, at the intersection of five streets: Wukang Road, Xingguo Road, Middle Huaihai Road, Tianping Road, and Yuqing Road. It is Shanghai's first veranda-style apartment building. The WuKang Building was constructed in the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924), and its shape resembles a giant ship.
The WuKang Building is situated at a sharp 30-degree angle naturally formed between Wukang Road and Middle Huaihai Road. In the 1920s, the famous Hungarian architect László Hudec, who lived in Shanghai, cleverly utilized the 30-degree street corner formed by the intersection of the two roads in his overall design. He adapted to local conditions and designed the building's plan in a triangular shape, resembling 'a large ship cutting through the waves.' To solve the issues of lighting and ventilation, two openings were created on the north side.
The building's facade is in the French Renaissance style, with the first and second floors featuring the Southeast Asian common arcade style, where the arches form a long corridor for pedestrians to shelter from the sun and rain. The facade is a cement wall surface, like the base of a lotus flower, with the ground floor exterior wall consisting of continuous arched arcades. The third to seventh floors are made of fair-faced red brick walls, designed with triangular window lintels, small balconies with iron railings, and the top floor's balcony wraps around the entire building's exterior wall. The third floor and the top floor have circular corridors that can serve as fire escape routes and replace the waistline, beautifying the facade. The third-floor facade is decorated with triangular European-style window lintels, and the fourth to fifth floors have some projecting balconies.

The very tasteful building, at the intersection of the two roads, is a triangle, like a corner cut cake, the first floor is a bottom merchant, I don't know who lives upstairs, very curious, it is worth coming.
Wukang Building, which has a unique architectural style, was built in the early 20th century and is a masterpiece of French neoclassical architecture. Its exterior design is full of romance and elegance, as if it can travel through time and return to Shanghai 100 years ago. I stood in front of the building, looking up at the spires that towered into the clouds, and couldn't help but lament the greatness of human architectural art. I was shocked by the interior decoration of the building. As soon as I entered the door, I felt the strong atmosphere of French culture. Marble floors, old chandeliers, ornate carved walls all made me feel like I was in a noble palace. I especially liked the spiral staircases in the building, which were beautifully designed as if leading to a wonderland.
It is said that Wukang Building is the sign of Wukang Road, the Internet celebrity road, in fact, even if Wukang Building is said to be the sign of the entire Xujiahui, it is not an exaggeration. Wukang Building belongs to Wukang Road Scenic Area, but it is more like an independent attraction. It is afraid that it is a working day. Several street corners here will be full of its fans. The surrounding cafes, restaurants, etc., as long as it is a landscape, any time period, it is difficult to find. The shape is like a giant ship riding the wind and waves. Some shops in the corridor around are full of the atmosphere of old Shanghai and worth seeing. The famous old wheat coffee is in it. The opposite Shuangxi old shop is a time-honored Guangdong dessert. I am tired and drink a bowl of double skin milk is particularly comfortable.
Walking on Wukang Road, suddenly gathered all the tides, it must be to Wukang Building [naughty] busy road, pedestrians came, crazy punching, the triangular Wukang Building building and Gulangyu "the most beautiful corner of the boat house" very similar. However, there are too many cars on the road, and you need to be cautious when punching in. There are many celebrities living in historical buildings around, and there are also many coffee shops and chic small shops. You can visit for a day [shy]
I have been here so many times, it is the first time to stamp, the first time I have seen you from a different perspective, not bad.
Today, the weather in Shanghai is OK, it is a bit hot, more than 30 degrees at noon, friends come from other places, hope to go to the famous attractions nearby. Then take friends to the Wukang Building that is passing by for a walk. Wukang Building is strategically located on Huaihai Middle Road near Xujiahui in Shanghai. The subway extends in all directions, next to Shanghai Jiaotong University, 15 minutes walk from Hong Kong Hui Hang Lung Plaza, and there are many office buildings and residential areas around. Wukang Building has a history of hundreds of years and is a typical European-style building, very similar to the Flat Iron Building in New York. Wukang Building is actually a residential building, and it is still full of people, but the rent is not cheap, and it is estimated that it is expensive to buy. It is full of people all year round, and there are people in every corner. Take pictures, live broadcasts, and take wedding photos. Have time to come and see
Shanghai was still very hot last week, and I didn't want to go out. In addition to work, I hurried home after get off work and I was not in the mood to play outside. It started raining in Shanghai these two days, and finally cooled down, falling below 30 degrees, and there was a little autumn feeling. The weather is cooler, I just want to go to the neighborhood after get off work. Wukang Building is a place to go often. It is not far from Shanghai Xujiahui Center, very close to Ganghui Hang Lung Plaza, and walk for 15 minutes. It is close to the old campus of Shanghai Jiaotong University and Meiluo City. Wukang Building has a history of hundreds of years, typical European style architecture. It is one of the must-see Internet celebrity attractions in Shanghai. Almost no matter when you come here, it will always be crowded, there are people in every corner, and this also has a fire in the surrounding restaurant business. Have time to come and see
