The white sand beach is at the far end of the island great bernera 44 kilometers 46 minutes drive away from Stornoway harbour. Mounted on the far skerry is the Time and Tide Bell, one of the several placed at the british coastline, where the unique design creates the tones when the tide rises by Macus Vergette. There are two highland cattle when we reach and a number of sheep standing on the stones on top.

The Calanais standing stones are one of the most magnificent and best preserved Neolithic monuments that were erected 5000 years ago. It was 27 kilometers 26 minutes drive from Stornoway harbour or bus W2 plus 10 minutes walk. The stones are free to go in and open 24 hours. Beside the stones is the visitor centre is home to an exhibition, cafe and gift shop. The cafe is a perfect place to relax with a stunning view of Loch Roag. For the stones mystery surrounds its exact purpose, although much of the evidence indicates that these stones will be the sites of both astronomical observation and rituals activities.
