I honestly never write reviews, but it's important that people don't waste time or money here. We booked in for 3 nights, and arrived on the first night to be greeted by a rude employee checking us in. She just took my card and gave us our room keys. No further info was offered. We then got to our room, which stank of stale smoke, half the lights didn't work so it was dark and dingey. I found fresh chewing gum on my bed sheets, the AC did not work right and the bathroom was grimey and clearly not deep cleaned. During the Covid-19 pandemic, the state of the room made us feel really unsafe. We wanted to cancel right away, and found a replacement hotel for the same price. I tried to call the front desk, no answer, and nobody there when I walked over. It was quite late at night so we just left, and cancelled online. I am currently trying to get a refund, with no answer from both corporate or the hotel itself yet. We stayed in the Quality Inn a few blocks away, which was miles better. We could not believe these 2 hotels were the same price!

Breakfast is the least variety I have ever experienced, only square bags, breakfast cereals, milk, yogurt, coffee, tea, no more! As soon as I stepped into the hotel room, the dirty smell of a carpet came out, and the old-fashioned air conditioner was noisy. The floor under the carpet of the room is really too old, and it creaks on the floor and is not flat. Only free parking is more convenient. I don't want to come anymore.

Bathroom was not cleaned, no bar soap left in bathroom. Beds were comfy. Breakfast was a bottle of water, a sausage croissant that one had to heat themselves so not really to go, and a muffin (was very tasty muffin). Convenient walk to convention center and light rail. Got double charged for parking (charged both my credit card and my room mate-the one with the car). Took multiple hours to correct, was promised a call from the GM at 5pm, 4 hours later still nothing. Would not stay here again. $8 for parking (not bad for this area). Pool closed.

A very comfortable hotel. It provides a free buffet breakfast. The breakfast is relatively rich in the United States. You can make your own waffles, including egg pancakes 🥞, bacon 🥓, fruits 🍉, oatmeal 🥣, etc. The three of us booked two Bedroom suites, each room has a bathroom, the overall feeling is very spacious and comfortable! Parking at the hotel is relatively expensive, costing 45 US dollars a day. We parked across the road from the hotel entrance. It is a roadside parking lot and is free at night.

We fly in from Hawaii, our flight delayed 3 hours, so we arrived at the hotel at 4am, the girl at the counter was walking towards outside and saw us entering the hotel with luggages without saying a word, we thought she was stepped out just a bit, and waited in the lobby, but she disappeared! There was another man in the lobby he tried to help us find her however no luck. We were so very tired and waited in the lobby for half an hour, she finally came in and gave us the key of the room, it only took like 2 minutes. If it were that simple, why not just handed the key to us upon our arrival, we tried to make phone calls, but the phone rang right in front of us in the counter with nobody inside, it's very very very frustrated.

The place was great but when I got there, the guy working started saying stuff like “ it’s quiet around here”, “Your not trying to party are you?” Then starts saying people have been coming there lately trying to do so, I assumed he stayed these things because I am A AA woman. I reminded him of my age (while he’s holding my I.D btw) he then goes to tell me I have to pay a $200 deposit. Which I was told before booking the room was $50. So this brings me back to my race, this is being told to me AFTER i just spent nearly $200 just to get the room. So I am behind upset.

McMenamins Kennedy School

Our local friend suggested McMenamins Kennedy School for lunch when we were in the Portland area. This is another of the McMenamins repurposed buildings. The old elementary school has been repurposed and refurbished as a specialty hotel that has an excellent restaurant on the premises The Courtyard Restaurant. There was limited off street free parking at the school and street parking in the nearby neighborhood. There are both indoors and outdoor dining options (though outdoors closed due to rain on the day we attended). We were there on a Saturday and were put on a wait list until we were seated. There was significant wait time, but we wandered the halls of the building and took in the art and archives displayed throughout the building while we waited. Once seated, we were served right away. The menu provides many options and everyone in our group enjoyed their choices. The wait staff was friendly and efficient. Our bill for three people eating lunch was $60. We would love to come again and enjoy the food and atmosphere again.

This is more of a lodge than a hotel with multiple connected wings. I chose it because it's after memorial day and I wanted a pool, given I was arriving early from the east coast. I get to the hotel and the pool is closed. At a holiday inn. After memorial day. No notice. Not an email explaining it or on their website. I even called the hotel to change my reservation and no mention of it. The rooms are large enough - too large for the amount of furniture in them - but the pool was closed. It appears they set it up for tomorrow but I'm leaving for work at 7 am. Even if I had called they have a 24 hour no cancel policy so i would have been charged for the room no matter what. So, the hotel itself is rambling and there's a sister property that's a Ramada across some odd vast desolate field. They look exactly the alike. Same architect, same design. But separate hotels. The hotel decor is questionable. There are expanses of halls that scream for work - and someone with a design esthetic to fix them. There's just not enough furniture anywhere and what they do have is pushed up against the walls in every room hallway, lobby etc. This area is in a no mans land island with very few amenities and shuttered stores. No small little town center but a grouping of suburban buildings with a best buy, target, staples, tj maxx, etc that have empty shelves and no customers. Most close at 6 pm. Dump this place and stay in town. It's depressing. And the pool was closed. Ugh.

I'm so glad to have found this little gem. I was traveling solo on this trip, so I found this place close to bus, Max line , and walkable from downtown. The owner is very responsive and friendly. The room is clean and safe. You have your own private room and key that you can use to get in and out. Yes you do share a restroom but there's 2.5 in the house. I never had an issue when I needed to use it. I just needed a place to sleep and get around town and this place did not disappoint. There is also a Trader Joe's down a block and you are so close to Nob Hill and some good eats!

Sheraton Portland Airport Hotel

I really feel that this hotel is not worthy of the ”Sheraton” brand! Let’s talk about it. I went to the airport and waited for the free shutter of his home for a full half hour. I didn’t expect Portland to be so cold at night, the clothes were worn less, and the dog was frozen! Then the car came, the driver did not get off the luggage, the whole master, so I also decisively did not tip! When I arrived at the front desk of the hotel, I checked in and unfortunately met a girl suspected of racism. When I saw that we were Chinese, I immediately stretched my face a lot and went to the room in a bad mood. I gave the most remote room on the first floor. I walked far away and said that I opened the curtains and saw only one wall! Oh, really depressed! I think about ten o'clock in the evening, I am too lazy to change the room again, ready to wash and sleep, and found that the sewer is not working! It’s really a slap in the face, and I’m going to call the front desk for repairs. Fortunately, this time the repairman came faster, and finally took a shower before 11:00! Is this like the Sheraton Hotel? I really doubt that I lived in the fake Sheraton! Also, another disadvantage of living on the first floor is that the restaurant fume on the first floor of the hotel is filled directly into the room, but there is no exhaust fan in the bathroom! So accompanied by the smell of soot, we spent a night unhappy! I really don't recommend this hotel!

Called an hour prior to arrival to confirm a room was available, being sure to confirm the price for a room with 2 seperate beds, as i did not wish to sleep next to my sister... Arrive and am given a key to a King bed room (very nice I might add). However, dissapointed I return to reception and refer to our prior phone conversation confirming the price and room that was agreed to on the phone. They try to deny that this was said (after telling me earlier that they can't remember my call?) to which my sister aids my case confirming what she heard on our phone call. They then tell me that another room will cost $20 more, which i politely decline and refer again to our phone call. She then tells me that this room is not available - which makes no sense whatsoever, as she just offered me the exact room we agreed upon (2 queen beds) for an additional price? I raise this point to which a counter offer of $10 is made - which i find very unprofessional (haggling with customers about a previously agreed upon price?) Reluctant to argue further or search for another room I begrudgingly accept the additional fee, being sure to let them know that this will be published online. Besides this - the room was OK (Aircon nice and cold) however the bathroom towel rack fell on the floor upon removing a towel? definitely needed fixing and was potentially dangerous, especially for a smaller child - Fix room 41 if you read this guys! All in all, I got a nice sleep in a decent bed, a good location, nice aircon, poor customer service and OK room. No wifi provided? not sure what happened there. TLDR: price provided via phone (1 hr prior) is changed upon checkin, haggled with for an extra $20 and told I should have booked in advance? Dodgy Bathroom Towel rack but nice cold aircon & bed and OK shower.

This hotel is the closest one to OHSU. We have a toddler that sees many different specialist there. Since we live 2 hours away, early appointments are tough. We always stay at this hotel to make the mornings easier. It's clean, the staff is friendly, and we like the room with 2 smaller beds. One is up against a wall which works well for the little guy. We bring 2 bed rails and feel he will be safe and not fall out. They have a simple but nice continental breakfast in morning so we can eat in the room. This hotel even has a restaurant attached,Suki's, that is open until midnight. They have good food and they come in handy when we haven't had a chance to eat dinner before getting there. We always stay at this hotel and plan to keep staying there anytime we have to drive to OHSU. We highly recommend any parent who has to go there, stay here as well. It's worth it.

Looking for a secure, clean, budget hotel this is a score. Quiet neighborhood, security is no nonsense, stores across the street. This is a budget hotel. I don't care if there are a few rips here, scratches there, tape and glue. A cig burn on a blanket still warm from the dryer is no big deal. I know constantly replacing stuff means higher rates in the end. The security and clean factor are whats important to me. I don't do filth and will not insert myself into any sketch situation. Not the case here. They patrol the entire property every 30 mins day and night. Overnight security don't play no games. You go to visit someone in that building, walk in and don't report to the desk first? They kick out the entire room you went to visit. They will see you enter and watch to see what room you go to. You are not a guest wandering around the parking garage or building? Security detains you until police arrive so if you have warrants... Pools closed for COVID. It's full and green but no odors or mosquitos just a family of ducks constantly messing up the pool cover. Landscapers come once a week. Cookware, plates and silverware not kept in rooms so ask for it. Everything in room works (a/c and smoke detectors). Fridges are full size and clean, countertops very clean. No hair in shower. Beds are clean and if there is a questionable looking stain, I know there is a health department here so I will look up their inspection standards given all lodgings before assuming I know the difference between seminal fluid and coffee stains and talk out my ass on some review thread. I've learned every mattress in every hotel in this county has to pass inspections with scores up to 30% less than what we sleep on at home in contaminates. For $80, I would have expected less both in security and cleanliness but was surprised how the staff worked as though they were happy to be there. How issues with people smoking, being loud or wandering around the place were quickly resolved from warnings to straight up escorting them off property. This place is not as pretty as a Hilton but I felt safer than if downtown paying $200 more for a room with $250 deposits and $80 overnight parking. Walk 2 blocks downtown and your surrounded by homeless junkies and tweaks aggressivley panhandling. Needles and the smell of junkie urine everywhere. Hotels in Southeast or Gresham? Forget about it. People complaining on this place more than likely were asked to leave, lost deposits or refused refund because of the level of vitriol has not one ounce of any thoughtful or honest assessment of the operational standards of this place, the staff and the amount of effort that goes into keeping a safe, clean stay.

I originally booked for two nights but I ended up extended for a total of five nights because I enjoyed the accommodations that much. Lobby, check-in, and cafe downstairs were all beautifully designed and welcoming areas to hang out or study. I loved the fireplace and living space. Wifi was great! Staff: Everyone on staff was wonderful and welcoming; however, Candace and Branson were people I had the most contact with and it was always a good time. From Candace always being available to help me with navigating the neighborhood and hotel to Branson giving me tips on Portland, chatting about life and fulfilling my caffeine needs, I loved getting the chance to know them. They definitely sealed me in for additional days and were a big reason I felt so comfortable throughout my stay. The Rooms: My first two days were in a King suite with a private bathroom. I was in the room deigned by Peter. It was comfortable, quiet despite the locals living it up outside, and roomy. The rest of my stay was in a Queen room with shared bathroom. I was concerned about having to share a bathroom but they are large, extremely clean and have comfortable and convenient amenities. I slept so well in every room I booked. There might be something to this no technology in the bedroom ”myth”. I liked the minimalist approach to hotel stays and appreciate the added luxury feel with the bathrobes. Little things like a robe really elevate the overall experience in hotels. Cons: No formal parking but there is plenty of street parking and much of it is free. Private security in the community keep a good watch on vehicles. A con that is not the hotel's fault is the unfortunate state of Old Town and it's displaced and struggling locals. They didn't bother me when I was outside but it was sad to see other human beings in those conditions. Be safe walking around the area as some can be unpredictable or in distress. Like with any city, especially downtown areas, just be aware of your surroundings. Overall, The Society is on my list of Portland favorites and I will be returning for future visits.

I would describe this as a hipster hotel with unique character to match the downtown area. My teenage kids did like the room and the adjacent coffee shop. However, I felt the room was a little small, especially the bathroom and the room could use some updating like more amenities like towel racks and storage for suitcases. Our room was not close to being recently remodeled so pictures can be a little deceiving. Bed was comfortable but I could hear people walking around above our room at night. I also struggled with parking found it very stressful trying to find parking, plan to spend around $40 a day on parking a day if you are driving around a lot. The overnight parking which is approx 10-15 minutes away walking distance is not on site and is only $20 a night, but it does not feel safe after 10pm to be walking around due to the homeless problem in the area. I don't think I will be returning to this hotel. I def don't feel like this was a 3 star hotel, I would give it a 2.5 out of 4 or 5 stars. The breakfast was a continental at best. Pastries with juice or coffee and fruit. Sometimes they provided yogurt or boxed oatmeal and oat milk but nothing special and get there before 9 am or there may run out of items. Portland has a lot of fun things to see but because of the homeless problem I would seek out recommendations for the best attractions and stir clear of the problem areas. Washington park and art museum were a lot of fun to visit. Multnomah Falls would be an all day trip and get there very early since parking is terrible or park off site and take tram in. I was also charged an additional fee of $25 a night which was not mentioned anywhere on the trip.com booking receipt.

I don’t understand the glowing reviews & photos are definitely deceiving. I should have captured the armed security guards all over the place and the homeless drug addicts shooting up on the street. I have never been so relieved to leave Portland. What a gorgeous city overcome with homeless tent camps and sad addicts freebasing on every corner. Tried to walk a few blocks to dinner but had to Uber back in order to be safe. Thankfully we didn’t bring our children but it would have been such an education on why not to try drugs. Luckily our car was not broken in to (see past reviews) however a homeless person clearly made it onto our floor screaming at 5am since the elevator’s card reader to make it onto upper floors was not operational. We were mostly deceived by AmEx as this property was listed as a Fine Hotels property. It is not but I would say the others listed were not either (the Nines was much nicer but more addicts were down that way. Another old hotel but nice hotels in Portland are few & far between). Love this city but I will not be back until it is cleaned up and the Ritz Carlton opens. All of this said, the staff at the Duniway are doing their best with what they have to work with. We experienced great customer service, clean rooms, and comfortable rooms. The hotel desperately needs an update though. What made our stay a positive one is that we left unharmed, found some great restaurants (go to the Pearl District), and spent all day away from Portland at Hood River or the Oregon coast.

JJ at the front desk was so kind and helpful. We accidentally booked for the wrong night, and he made sure we got a clean room for the night we needed with no additional charge. We were pretty anxious about our mix-up, but he made sure we felt comfortable and relaxed. Thank you so much! The room itself (one bed suite) was super clean, spacious, and had all the necessary amenities. Pillows were very soft. Everything seems very clean and well-maintained, despite the hotel being on the older side. The hotel in general has a very cozy design, which we loved. Coffee was surprisingly good, and breakfast was delicious!

Facilities/Amenities were nice! Room was super spacious and comfortable. Temperature was warm even with thermostat down to 69 degrees but it also may have been because the blankets are suuuper warm, made it a little hard to fall asleep. Service was solid, the receptionists were nice/friendly. I got a tiny tiny cut from the sink’s pull knob(?) by pulling it too hard/carelessly, so just be careful/slow when using it, the sides are kinda sharp. There was a little bit of trash and a left behind mascara under the bed on the side that wasn’t ours. Price for the room was super affordable, it was a really good deal and I’d be down to stay again for sure!!
