Amadi Park Hotel
4/5103 Reviews
Oud-West
Eccentric place: one of two “hotels” located in what is essentially a building of residential apartments. The Amadi has the reception on the 4th floor and our room was on the 2nd. Stairs/lift take you past residential floors. Pros: Manager was really helpful when we needed to get to the local hospital. Reasonably good location just outside the main canal ring but within walking distance of everything, with tram stops nearby. Local area has plenty of eateries. Room quiet and bed comfortable. Cons: Over-priced for what it is - feels more 3 star than 4 star. No breakfast facilities (though plenty of places nearby) Odd-shaped room with barely any space on one side of the bed. Temperature control on aircon didn’t seem to do anything. Coffee machine didn’t work - a few drips after a lot of straining. And nothing for non-coffee drinkers. List of TV channels didn’t fit with actual channels. BBC1 and BBC2 listed but we never found them. Bathroom poorly designed - a small circular sink with a really small shelf. A slight smell of drains.
Hotel Amsterdam Inn
3.3/516 Reviews
I've read a few reviews before going there, and I do understand where some are coming from, but definitely not others... the rooms are indeed small, but they have all the space you need, specially if you're travelling alone. You can barely hear the noise outside (you can hear the planes flying by or the ambulance on the street, but it's very muffled) and the rooms have good sound insulation + heating. The issue is the other clients staying at the inn that don't have common sense and respect for anyone else and just arrive late at night screaming and talking loud for no reason... you really can't blame the hotel for that. The public transportation is amazing there, with tram and direct bus from Schipol airport nearby. I've went to a concert in Melkweg, so also very close to the arena, which was the purpose of my trip. It's pretty much center Amsterdam, so it is an old building, so the stairs are a bit small. It wasn't my case, because I had only a small bag, but the hotel staff asked the couple in front of me if they needed help carrying their bags upstairs. So the staff goes extra and beyond to try to be helpful. Would return there a next time.
Melrose Hotel

Jordaan
The Melrose is perfectly located for a visit to Amsterdam especially if you want to walk. You can easily walk to the Dam, the various shopping areas and the museum district, and you are right beside the boutique 9 streets shopping area. The Leidestraat restaurant area is also an easy walk There are heaps of cafes and food places within a block in any direction.. The rooms are small but not uncomfortable. We would certainly go back.
Dikker & Thijs Hotel

Canal Belt
Very good location, steps away from the tram lines 2 and 12. Centrally located between central station, Anne Frank and museum area. Many shops and restaurants in easy walking distance. Very quiet as we always ask for a room facing the rear. Rooms modest but typical for large cities. Continental breakfast available. We prefer a firmer, larger bed but with jet lag, we were fine for two nights.
NL Hotel District Leidseplein

Oud-West
Amsterdam hotels are known to be very expensive, especially at key times of the year, so trying to find something of value, and comfort is always a big ask. The NL Hotel is conveniently located a short walk from the centre of the city and is a converted house. The space has been very well utilized, however it has some of the steepest stairs I have ever experienced! Not a problem for me, but could be a challenge for others. It does have an elevator you can use with your bags, but it's big enough for one person. My room was very small. Surprisingly, the bathroom was a decent size. The main benefit here is that you have your own air conditioning unit in the room which was very welcome. There's a Nespresso machine, however, just two pods per day is your limit! There's also a wall mounted TV and a small wardrobe. However in my room there was nowhere to sit apart from the bed. There is a panel on the wall that you can select whether you want your room made up or not, which is very, very bright at night, and be warned the stairs from the ground floor to the first are incredibly noisy, so if you are in a first floor room, you will hear plenty of noise from people coming up the stairs. Now I know why complimentary ear plugs are provided. Fresh towels are provided daily if you want them which was a bonus.
BackStage Hotel

Jordaan
We stayed for two nights at the Backstage Hotel and had a great stay. The staff are very welcoming and helpful - they were able to recommend places to eat and to visit. The room was warm and comfortable. We stayed on the 4th floor, which is up 4 flights of very steep amsterdam stairs, but that added to the experience. The hotel itself is nicely themed throughout and there was bottled water, towels, showergel, soap and plenty of toilet roll in the bathroom. Despite being busy, the hotel was quiet throughout and there was plenty of tables to choose from in the dining room for breakfast. Breakfast was delicicous and well presented. We had a selection of meats, cheeses, bread and pastries and plenty of hot coffee. The location is great. We found the hotel easily on foot and discovered the local area using the map provided by reception. It took around 25 minutes to walk from central station and around 15 minutes to Dam Square. There were many eating places nearby and we particularly enjoyed eating at the food hallen which is 5 minutes away and has LOTS of choice. Overall, we couldnt fault the hotel. We had a great weekend in Amsterdam, made better by having a fabulous hotel. We will definately be back in the future!
