Visiting a dear friend in Ann Arbor, we chose this hotel on its proximity to his flat and it turned out to be a great choice. As it is new, it is very, very clean , and we enjoyed the minimalist decor. Homewood Suites offer a great product. Staff here were well trained, amiable and helpful. Breakfast was hot and delicious. When we return to Ann Arbor, this will be our choice. Very nice stay.

We had such negative, disappointing experience at this hotel, from our check-in to check-out. As we had power outage, we decided to stay at this hotel. On Internet it said $155 for the room with two queen size beds. My husband called and made a reservation. Upon arrival we were told that there’s no room so we had to wait for a while. The front desk staff called my husband loud (she said “Smith!!”, not “Mr. Smith”) and we were offered a room with only a dim desk light working. The lights in the bathroom and bedsides didn’t work. Later, they explained that the electric company put a limit on their electricity use. We were told to use “the flashlight on your phone” to take shower. The room was cold no matter we set the temperature higher and not so clean (tired). At check out, nobody was present at the front desk. I waited for 10 minutes and a staff came out reluctantly. She charged us $240. I asked her why and she said “because we didn’t have full electricity”. We are very disappointed because this hotel basically took advantage of those of us who needed a warm, lit place to stay during a power outage by charging $100 more that their usual price. The quality of the service and their hygiene standard were disappointing. My husband called Hilton customer service afterwards, but they were not nice nor understanding at all, transferred the call multiple times over 30-40 minutes. We have been a Hilton honors member but we will switch to Marriot. One last note: when we were waiting to check in, a homeless person with lots of paper bags came in casually, grabbed a paper cup in the breakfast room across the front desk, attempted to get some coffee from the dispenser. He put his cup back when he realized that there’s no coffee left. There were two staff at the front desk and one cleaning staff close to him but they really didn’t care, it appeared that this person was a frequent visitor.

It was OK, but that's as far as I can go. Overall, what the place lacked was the warmth, cleanliness and welcome that one would expect. Our room was decent. It has a ”cooler” but no microwave. The bathroom sink is located outside of the tub/toilet area, which was nice. Adequate counter space. But the beds and pillows were lumpy and uncomfortable. We did not get housekeeping services one day, and were left with dirty towels on the floor with no replacements, which we then asked for at the front desk. The fitness room was not cleaned as dirty towels were strewn about the floor and equipment. The complimentary coffee in lobby consisted of one caff and one decaf carafe, with 2 large pumps of Coffee Mate. (yuk!) The lobby cafe and bar was very overpriced ($26 for 3 medium coffees and $50 for 2 drinks!). We entertained some family in the lounge area, and had asked for the fireplace to be turned on to take the chill off the room and add some ambiance. We were told that the fireplace hasn't worked for 3 years! The lounge area had dirty cups and napkins and crumbs on the furniture and tables, which we cleaned up before we could sit down.

Unsatisfied with our stay for many reasons. The first reason is because we picked this hotel because of the promise of the shuttle to the Art Festival, and it was listed NOWHERE on the website that the shuttle was running ONLY two times (10 and 11). The fact that it is only running twice for drop offs and twice for pickups is NOT OK. Secondly, the person who checked us in (around 12:30-12:45 on Saturday) was not helpful or really that friendly. She was unaware of ANY other place around the very busy and large area of Ann Arbor that we could take a shuttle to get to the Art Fair (which there were at least 10-12 different places that we found prior to taking an Uber and having to pay to get ourselves to the art fair). Third, the room was $250 a night, which is an exorbitant amount of money for the tiny room that we stayed in. Fourth, the breakfast wasn't the greatest either. The water was not cold at all either. Fifth, in our room, there is nothing that makes this hotel special from any other. There is no real ”hotel book” that you see in EVERY other GOOD hotel. We did see that there was the one that you could scan, but it barely told us ANYTHING. Sixth, the bathtub water pressure was slow and took forever to fill up. Seventh, there were no amenities in the hotel room/hotel to make it feel homey or home-like. There were no glass in the entire hotel to use according to the not helpful front desk concierge as well as very little cups or bathroom needs in our room. There was no table/chairs or even any place to ”move around” in our room. Overall, we were promised a shuttle when we arrived there (That was a fall out and blatant oversight because NOWHERE on the website does it mention ANYWHERE about a time of the shuttle, which says to ANYONE who is staying at the hotel that the shuttle would be running THE ENTIRE DAY!) This is the MAIN reason why we picked this hote, which means we would NOT have picked this hotel had we known that the shuttle wasn't all day LIKE WE WERE PROMISED ON THE WEBSITE! The rooms were small, the breakfast was average at best and when we come to Ann Arbor Art Festival again, we will be taking advantage of other hotels (probably like the Hyatt because we saw that they were actually smart and competent humans and had a shuttle/bus running more than twice a day on what appears to be their busiest festival of the year). Very disappointed! The hotel is very outdated and warn out. It needs SIGNIFICANT updates to remain competitive (the elevator was VERY loud and the floors were not updated well-dirty and still old as well as the paint peeling in the hotel.) Unsatisfactory Stay :(

I stayed here bec they are AAA diamond rated for service and cleanliness but my room and breakfast area fell very short of expected cleanliness. My bathroom still had previous guest’s pubic hair on the toilet and in the tub rim; and there is a brown smear near the toilet paper holder - yuck! And bacon pieces and brown crumbs on the floor. I thought rooms were supposed to be vacuumed in between guests?? Breakfast area counters were dirty and smeared with handprints and even with an hour left of breakfast service, there was very little left (one yogurt, 4 bagels, 1 banana and 4 tiny danishes). In all the hotels I’ve stayed at since and during the last 2 years, all the hotels except for this one offered a bottle of hand sanitizer upon entering breakfast area. This is really too bad bec this is a nicely appointed hotel. Perhaps management need to pay better attention to cleanliness especially with covid-19 still being around!

Outstanding
GGuest UserA very satisfying living experience! First, it is very close to the UMich campus, only 15 minutes walk, and free parking is available; second, the hotel is very unique, with a history of more than 100 years, each room has a different theme, beautifully decorated, warmly furnished, and the experience is very different from those business hotels; third, the price is not expensive, classic gourmet breakfast, and a self-service kitchen is provided; fourth, the hotel owner is a Chinese compatriot, the service is thoughtful and the hospitality is warm; fifth, the surrounding area is in a wealthy area, with beautiful scenery, safe and quiet. I will patronize it next time I go, it is highly recommended!
XXIAOJUNHotel is good, (*๓ ́╰╯`๓) The only thing that can be included if breakfast is perfect! The surrounding traffic is quite convenient and the parking lot is big enough. The hotel to the restaurant can walk from the indoor passage, it is also very convenient!
邵邵Because there is no twin room here, the son who is studying here wants to live together, so he booked a two-bedroom room. The whole set is 70 square meters. Each bedroom has a separate bathroom. The living room and the kitchen and dining room are connected together. It is very large and spacious. Fully equipped kitchen. Later, when my son went to another place, I renewed the cheap double room for 2 days. I didn't expect that when I switched, the front desk said that I don't need to change the room, I can continue to live in the original two-bedroom suite at a cheap price, they are really generous Oh, and said that check-out can be done at 2:00 pm at the latest. The transportation of this hotel is very convenient. There is a supermarket 3 minutes' walk next to it. Next time you come to Ann Arbor, you must live here. The surrounding environment is very safe and beautiful!
KKAIThe hotel does not provide free breakfast, which needs to be paid at your own expense, but after contacting Ctrip customer service, Ctrip will return the breakfast fee at your own expense after check-out. However, I still feel a little deceived in my heart, with some regrets.
Don’t let the pictures online fool you! My stay here did not live up to expectations or my past stays at other Staybridge hotels (or other IHG hotels in other cities around the world, for that matter). However, my stay was not all negative, so let me focus on the positives first. Let me note that while I stayed here for one night while in the process of moving to a new city, I did not have the breakfast here, nor did I use the hotel’s amenities, so this review will skip those parts of the stay. The hotel’s location is very convenient, located just off I-94 which provides easy access to DTW as needed. It is also located to a lot of nearby restaurants and stores, although a bit of a drive from the University of Michigan if you are here for the university. The lobby provides a cheery, refreshing welcome upon entering, and the front desk staff were friendly and attentive. The rooms are also pretty spacious, no surprise given this is a hotel composed of suites. The bed is also very comfortable and I received a good night sleep. But that’s pretty much where it all ends positivity wise… Despite the room being spacious, it seems as if housekeeping does not do their job as the room was very dirty upon entering. There were also stains on the walls and there were even blood stains in certain areas of the washroom. Absolutely disgusting, and especially unacceptable especially during pandemic times! The shower was also below average and water pressure was quite weak. If I had to describe what the shower experience was like at this hotel, it was almost as if the water was trickling. Seriously. It seems as if there are a numerous amount of hotels in close proximity to this one. I would most certainly look at those other options, because other people are pointing out the same flaws as me online. 2 stars seems just right for me given that there were some positives about my stay here.
I expected much better when I first walked into the Kensington Hotel in Ann Arbor, but I was completely wrong. We paid over $600 for a room, only to find bugs crawling all over the floors and ceilings, pee on the toilet seat, and black mold growing from the windows. It was disgusting. Also, to make matters worse the toilet would run constantly. I took photos for the staff to see and understand but they only turned their heads. The service made it even worse. Katie, one of the managers, treated us horribly and made us feel like we were crazy for bringing up these issues. We repeatedly asked for basic amenities like soap for the shower, and never got any. When we requested to switch rooms because of the state of ours, we were told nothing was available. How can they overbook rooms like this when there are serious health issues in some of them? To top it off, this wasn’t even during a busy football game weekend—we were here for a wedding. I understand the hotel might get busier during game weekends, but that doesn’t excuse the poor quality of the room or the terrible service we experienced. The only positive note was June and Cade at the front desk, who were polite and helpful. Unfortunately, every other encounter we had was awful. I would never stay here again or recommend this hotel to anyone.
邵邵I made a temporary reservation and arrived at 11:30 in the middle of the night. There is only a twin room on the first floor. When I walked into the room, the smell was very heavy and it felt very damp and airless.
This hotel is very large and newly renovated, the free breakfast is very rich, and the service is very good, someone will greet you with coffee or tea. There are coffee machines, refrigerators, and microwaves in the room. The hotel has a large swimming pool and gym. The surrounding area is safe and spacious, and the car can be parked freely. A few steps out of the hotel, there will be gas stations, supermarkets, and it is very convenient to buy some food and process it.
The particularly good thing is that there is a car rental company in the hotel, and the car is parked right next to the hotel, which is a great service!
SspecklesNice grounds. Lots of grass close by for dog walking. Lots of gas stations and fast food places within walking distance. 2 supermarkets a Panera and a Starbucks. Usual Redroof set up. Hair dryer, iron and ironing board. Good wifi. Pretty well maintained except fir the ceiling of the walkway in front of the rooms. That needs attention. Clean room. Very competent staff.
GGuest UserI recently stayed the Extended Stay America - Briarwood Mall location for a week long work trip and was completely appalled with my experience. Cleanliness of the entire hotel and offensive treatment from hotel staff contributed to this. Upon arrival, staff was extremely unknowledgeable about the check in process, and even gave us the wrong room number. Once we entered the room, there was a musty smell, the room seemed barley cleaned, with food crumbs all over the place. Additionally, I found a used razor and bag of God knows what underneath the bathroom sink (see picture). But these issues are extremely minor compared to the situation that arose on the last night of my stay. The staff approached the co-worker I was staying with and myself and accused us of indecent exposure from the previous night, and mentioned extremely offensive comments about our outfits. They were insulating that there was illegal and immoral activity happening when we were leaving to be picked up by other co-workers. I have outlined specific thoughts about the situation below. 1) My co-worker and I are both college educated individuals graduating from top universities, and top in our class. We both work for an extremely respected tech company for over a year now. 2) There was no evidence that this ”complaint” was about my co-worker and I. The hotel staff said that they ”heard” us say room 104, but my co-worker and I were only in the lobby for less than 60 seconds without speaking to anyone and there was no Staff at the front desk when we left for the night. 3) Not that it matters, but I was dressed in a tank top, jeans, and sneakers. My co-worker was wearing a jacket, jeans and sneakers as well. 4) When speaking to the hotel manager on the phone, she threatened to call the police for indecent exposure, and refused to provide a refund until she ”reviewed the camera footage”. It has been 3+ days now, and I have not heard anything from her. Additionally, I don't understand why the camera footage needs to be reviewed because the overall issue is that the Hotel staff was extremely offensive and judgemental. I've never felt more uncomfortable and violated in my entire life, and I will NEVER be staying at an Extended Stay or any affiliated hotels again.
