If you are looking at a cool castle to stay on the Rhein, although this is a cool castle, for the same price I have to recommend Schloss Rheinfels. This is because for the same price they have larger rooms, steam room, saunas, a pool, and an elevator. The food is great for the breakfast and afternoon tea. This was the good part. I felt the front desk seemed annoyed when I asked if I can get extra pillows. As well, I asked 8f there were a larger room available and they also seemed annoyed at that. The front desk did not give me a warm feeling. The room was quite small. It advertised a range of room sizes for the option I selected and the size I got was in that range, but the room size and configuration with the bathroom being part of the main room felt cramped. The desk was small and the stool was uncomfortable. Considering the price and considering it was the same price as Scloss Rheinfels, I don’t feel I got value for the price and this is my main complaint. The castle and being allowed to go to the castle freely was really cool.

A beautifully maintained castle on the Rhine River, the Burg Reichenstein has a fantastic museum you can walk through on your own, complete with a working bowling, alley and even a costume room where you can dress up in medieval garb. The adjoining hotel is wonderful and makes for a perfect wedding venue. The staff here is absolutely incredible and makes the overall experience five-star.

We are a family of 4 with 2 kids aged 17 and 21. We hadn’t originally planned to visit Reichenstein because Rick Steves doesn’t feature it in his book, but the KD boat tour recommended it, so we decided to try it. It was well worth seeing—and eating. You can drive to the entrance and park (no long, steep climb unless parking is full). They provide a self-guided audio tour in English and German. The audio guide is detailed and informative. It has a dramatic element with voices representing past family members discussing the history of the rooms, which can feel a bit over the top but probably makes it more interesting, especially for younger visitors. We took 2 hours to see the entire castle because there’s so much outside and inside—you can even climb up to the battlements for a view of the Rhine. The castle is well restored and presented. It’s preserved as it was in the early 20th C. You get a sense of the family members, their history, and the way a significant, industrial family would have lived at the time. Besides Burg Eltz, it was our favorite castle experience. They have an excellent gourmet restaurant on site that serves both lunch and dinner. Part of the estate is a hotel, but we did not see the accommodations.

Excellent Castle Museum, wonderful views! Restaurant, cannot even give 2 stars! The Flammeküche was perfect! The Beer & Wine excellent! The Calf’s liver totally overcooked! The cauliflower average at best! Salad Good! Service, the mature Lady was a Pro, the youngster? Oh well, I cannot serve outside her first answer! With the best weather, halloooo? Buy later she admitted her wrong so all good! But the kitchen, worst, requested for Calf’s Liver to be Main Course, but goodness , answer: we are not allowed to do that. Kitchen flatly refused! So much for hospitality in 🇩🇪! 😰 Yet the location quite perfect for an outdoor drink, the visit to the castle recommended!

This exceeded my expectations. I came here mostly because I wanted to visit Burg Rheinstein, but to my surprise I liked Burg Reichenstein better than Burg Rheinstein. The highlight for me was walking in the museum area (only outside, you can't go inside after closing time) alone in the dark with the big moon and stars above after closing time - felt magical! But I also loved little details in my room like black old-fashioned light switches, and the free cookies in the afternoon tasted wonderful and gave a cozy feeling. Best bed I have ever slept in! Bacon for breakfast, which is something you don't get too often in Germany. If I am to mention anything negative, the staff in the dining room didn't all understand English, which caused a few problems, and it was annoying that we were not allowed to eat or drink at the laid tables outside during the day, but I don't know if it's always like that.

The food was anything but good, service was bad. The buffet was not refilled. Many guests found it far too expensive as the meat (venison) was as tough as rubber. It is not worth recommending. Thomas

My son and I actually wanted to stop off for coffee in your restaurant today after we read online that it was closed next weekend because of an event. So we set off, only to find out that today was also a private event (which is fine with you) and that a visit was not possible. So we drove home. So we drove about 140 kilometers for nothing. It would have been nice if we had read about this event online, then we could have postponed the whole thing until tomorrow.

Unfortunately, we could only stay one night in the castle because we were passing through, which is not enough for this location. The castle is really worth seeing and has been lovingly renovated and well maintained. As a guest, you can of course visit the castle, even during the "quiet" times. The rooms are excellent, i.e. stylishly decorated, have everything you need and you immediately feel very comfortable. In combination with a visit to the restaurant, I would recommend this castle hotel without reservation. You may pay a few euros more, but you have an extraordinary experience. Sure => Thumbs up

We regularly hold company meetings there and are pampered. It goes so far that the ladies at reception already know who likes which room best. But we also regularly go to Reichenstein Castle for a short break on a private basis - the food is always delicious!
