Definitely a couples hotel, great service and rooms regardless though. Certainly don’t expect a casual hotel, but this fun quirky hotel is perfect for a couples holiday. Would go back if I ever visit Edinburgh with a missus. Bar down stairs seems to have great cocktails although I didn’t have any. Thought I had more photos of room, but photos uploaded by hotel are spot on.

The location is excellent, however the bedroom is one of the smallest I have ever experienced. The dark decor allows for the cleanliness to be poor and simply adds to the claustrophobic experience. Having to slide down between the side of the bed and the wall so you don't disturb your partner to go to the bathroom is not what I expect from a £400 per night room. The bathroom (or should I say wetroom, which to be fair is what it was named by the host) had a toilet that was loose from the wall, but also had an innovative idea. If you wanted to shower and brush your teeth in the wash hand basin at the same time, it is easily achieved in this postage stamp of a room. I did not feel decadent here, I felt ripped off. The staff that I did interact with were pleasant enough and you can't blame them for the rooms. Breakfast in the room was a challenge because you could only eat it perched on your bed, there was no room for anything else. Finding glass in the shower topped it off as probably the worst hotel experience I've had and I've stayed in a lot of poor hotels. My comments are probably exaggerated by the price tag and expectations that are set by both that and the marketing content. I'm clearly not the right customer for this hotel.

Dreadful hotel not worth even half the cost, small reception entrance doubling up as a cocktail bar, claustrophobic room that could do with a good clean…….had to squeeze sideways up the bed on one side to get in, no windows ( apart from one that overlooked a brightly lit passage poorly covered by a blind that disturbed our sleep ) vent in the floor that sounded like aircon running on full. No tea/coffee facilities not that there was room for any. Tiny bathroom with broken glass on the shower floor and a wobbly toilet. Extremely disappointing!

The whole House of Gods experience was brilliant. Complementary prosecco on arrival, easy check in and a stunning room, complete with mini bar. Yes the room is small. But, it was for one night, the bed was comfy, the mirror changed into a telly, the waterfall shower gave instant hot water. There were tons of light switches to change the mood of the room and the soft furnishings were opulant We had cocktails in the bar and they were amazing (and strong) Don't let anybody the negative reviews out you off. This was a great city break and the staff were all friendly, attentive and on point. Made our wee Xmas overnighter quite special

I was treated to an overnight stay by my fiancé for my 50th birthday celebration.  I was super excited to be staying in House of Gods! Everything was kept a surprise until the morning of my birthday. I can honestly say that I haven't experienced anything like it before!  The hotel was somewhat gothic, luxurious, opulent and really glamorous.  Stunning room with 4 poster bed, beautiful furnishings and fixtures. Yes the room is compact but it certainly had the Wow factor.   Included for us was Treat me Like your Famous package. If you can't feel like your a famous star on your 50th then when can you!   Every single piece of service and detail was spot on. The service was above and beyond anything I expected or imagined. The minute we arrived we got such a warm welcome, a glass of Prosecco which we enjoyed in the stunning cocktail bar. Whilst our luggage and jackets were taken to our room. We then were taken through our options for room service cocktails, booked for cocktails in the lounge and also breakfast hamper choices.  The room was decorated with gold petals, balloons, there was a bottle of Prosecco on ice and the most decadent chocolate selection. We had the butler cocktail service to the room which was amazing, so special ans the Millionaires cocktail was delicious.  We enjoyed a further few cocktails down in the lounge. The selection was amazing, spoiled for choice.  The Rum Rum Rudolph was a favourite.   When we returned in the evening we had a nightcap and retired to our room. Tv had Netflix  amazon etc We pressed for service and hot fresh baked cookies arrived, glasses of milk and other sweet treats.  Our breakfast hamper was delightful, really lovely products and presented beautifully. The mimosas went down a treat.  Super comfortable bed really luxurious bedding, pillows etc we didn't want to leave! The staff went above and beyond and the whole experience from start to finish was one I shall never forget. Utterly perfect and out of this world. Thank you House of (oh my) God's
