Dimora Palanca

We booked this hotel as a treat for a special wedding anniversary ( which was not even mentioned/ recognised by the team at all.) . Though a pre arrival email did add in a ‘ romantic dinner’ ( no explanation why ) that we didn’t request for 100 euros ! Em… no thank you ! I travel extensively and stay in many 4/ 5 star hotels . Sadly DP did not deliver ! The most alarming thing is that I emailed my feedback directly to the hotel on the day of our departure and still have not received a response. That says to me ‘ we really don’t care ‘ …. The good… stunning building / good room ( tho small bathroom ) and some nice customer service moments, housekeeping lady was fab and front of house staff were mainly helpful and pleasant The bad… breakfast on our first day , we were ignored for 3/4 minutes, had to ask for our table to be laid . There was just one waiter . Uncleared tables , no scrambled eggs . Had to ask for more . If you wanted ‘ additional ‘ breakfast items like poached eggs / omelette this was an extra charge . A bit ridiculous when the only offer of hot food was bacon and scrambled eggs which were hard / cold or none existent !,, !! This is suppose to be 5 star…. Well it was THE worst breakfast offering/ experience I have experienced . The were no tea/ coffee facilities in the room . There no atmosphere in “ the bar “ and definitely not somewhere I would want to have dinner … actually I didn’t see anyone in bar / restaurant apart from breakfast time. I wish you could have done much better DP …you definitely under delivered in terms of our customer experience and your lack of response says it all . We loved Florence and will definitely return to the city but will not be returning to Dimora Palanca or recommending it .

The hotel is clean , but tired. I did not appreciate being told to sit a specific table for breakfast even when there were clearly several empty, was totally snubbed when asking for hot water for tea. Male concierge added 30% onto the price of bus tickets , next days' tickets were as priced on the actual ticket. Makes them untrustworthy. Poor breakfasts . And service is bad. Itallians get treated well and english are NOT . They don't know how to treat paying guests with equal respect . Its obvious they are blatantly discriminate.

General facilities, older European-style hotels with elevators. There is a large and small supermarket on the opposite side of the hotel. It is closed at 9 o'clock in the evening. It is also very convenient to supplement. The location is very good, the main attractions to the old town are within walking distance, take a look at the city to pay attention to the sights. For self-driving travel, it is suitable. Outside the ZTL, the free parking space at the door should not be considered forever. The parking lot will enter the street behind the hotel building. The iron door will be automatically opened according to the door, but there are only 10 parking spaces, 10 Euro per car. .

The Hotel is conveniently located, a good walking distance from all the museums & places of interest. You can also take a bus into down town. It is not too far from restaurants. The hotel has an excellent restaurant attached to it. In the 3 x days we stayed there we went to the restaurant 2 x times. The breakfast was very good & the service was excellent. The room was comfortable but a bit hot & stuffy with a few mosquitoes.

The location is a bit far from the attraction, but the grandfather is very good, free to help us store our luggage! The facilities are also perfect, the room and bathroom are very clean

Hotel service is not bad. Go to the saved package in advance. The room has two bottles of water every day and a variety of shower gels. The tub is great and great, which is the most satisfying. The atmosphere is not bad, breakfast is good, there are English newspapers. Insufficient: The dust in the room is a bit too much. Then there is dust in the water in the machine that burns water, so there is no water to drink. There is no English channel on the TV and I don't understand it at all. The front desk staff is really great! ! English is not bad! ! Close to Freedom Square and walk for ten minutes to the city centre. Basically, it is not very convenient to use a car because the city is small and there is no need to take a bus.

We had a lovely stay at Lorena Suites. The staff were so friendly and helpful despite my embarrassing lack of Italian. Our room was large and beautifully decorated with plenty of places to store our items. It was clean with an excellent cold shower - just what you need after exploring all day in 40 degree heat! Air conditioning was also very welcome as was the well stocked mini bar - this felt reasonably priced in comparison with local shops and provided a few local Italian aperitivo as well. We had a balcony which offered an excellent view of the sunset over the tuscan countryside. When we arrived and realised we were on the 5th floor, I was very grateful to note there was a lift available to take us and our bags up. Lorena is roughly 20 minutes walk from the duomo but you aren’t too far from other points of interest. We spent €10 in a taxi to get there from Santa Maria Novella station and it was €18 to get back and the host was very helpful in arranging this taxi back for us. When we arrived, the taxi driver pointed out a restaurant on the corner (out of the gates and turn left) which he said offered the best bistecca in Florence. We were dubious but tried anyway and it was incredible - if you want authentic Italian cuisine and company would highly recommend skipping the walk back into the busier areas and going here instead. It is worth noting that some of the rooms face onto quite a busy main road. While this was not an issue at night, in the morning this was quite loud from early on - best to make sure the shutters are fully closed as we found this (plus a couple of bottle of chianti Classico) made for a peaceful lie in. All in all we had a wonderful stay in Lorena Suites, all was fantastic and we cannot wait to find an excuse to come back and visit!
