The hotel is quaint and calm—away from hustle-and-bustle of Lihue proper. Pros: Solitude. Beautiful lush mountains and the view is gorgeous. Scenic overlook on way to hotel. Pool towels available. Staff very courteous. Linens and bath towels changed daily. Microwave and fridge/freezer. Target and Costco are close a couple of miles to stock up fridge. Live music in evenings was a very pleasant touch and musicians were great. Shout-out to Sheldon Espina. Cons: Don’t let the pool photo sway you as this is a dated hotel and needs work. Our room had broken louver shades, rusty and dust-covered lamp. Very run-down dirty bathroom. I am a stickler on a clean bathroom and this did not come close. Mirror cabinet very old and swelling/peeling /decrepit on the top. Cabinet under sink dirty and gross. Fixtures and curtain rods old and rusting. I had to wipe down the shelf above toilet fixture before placing our toiletries and extra towels there. Mildewy shower curtain. Bathroom curtains dirty and need to be discarded. Air conditioner loud. Continental breakfast: Juices were sugary drinks. (Actual fruit good, however). One coffee maker out of order for the entire week. No pancake or waffle maker or breakfast meats . Fyi you should rent a car to get back and forth for an extended stay. Uber is costly.

UPDATE 6:30 a.m. 6/21/2024: After calling again, someone was finally sent to our room to spray the kitchen around 11:00 a.m. You would think that would help, BUT, last night, as my daughter was getting a bowl from the cabinet, she was greeted by another cockroach. This time, it was BIG! I opened the other side of the cabinet to be startled by 2 more big ones running around! After spending hours trying to kill them and cleaning roach droppings, I called the front desk and was told again that no one could come until morning since she did not have access to the spray. I mentioned that the person who came in the morning said that he has sticky traps, but that management doesn't like to use them. I told him that we already know that the roaches exist and wanted them. When the maintenance person arrived I showed him the video and even he was shocked by the size. His exact words, ”Oh wow, ma'am. That is big!” I asked if other units are having the same issue and he claimed that we were the only ones. While he was there, he found a few more dead ones under the sink. He placed several traps down and now we are waiting for someone to come spray. Meanwhile, right before I submitted this review, I went to check and two of our roach friends are stuck on the trap still alive and moving. I haven't even checked the others. This is completely unacceptable and there is no offer or option to switch rooms. Instead, I have to spend hours of my vacation trying to kill roaches and sanitize everything. Thankfully we decided not to cook or use the kitchen, but any snacks we have that are open have been shoved into the refrigerator. I mean, has anyone had to refrigerate a bag of Doritos before? The 2 stars originally given is now 1. 6:15 a.m. 6/20/2024: We are currently here at Kauai Beach Villas and the rooms though spacious, could use a little updating. The grounds are nice and the option to use the pool at the Outrigger is great because it makes it feel more like you're staying at a resort. The reason for 2 stars is due to the cleanliness of the room. When we checked in, the kitchen counter still had leftover pieces of rice on it and there were crumbs on the kitchen table. Utensils had leftover food stuck to it, so my advice is to stick everything into the dishwasher before using them. Knives are rusted and the linens were stained. The couch was filthy, stained and it felt gross to sit on it. Additionally, we ate out the first two nights, so we hadn't really spent any time in the kitchen because we're not cooking, but decided to order food for takeout last night and found a COCKROACH run across the kitchen floor! I decided to check all the cabinets and found two more under the sink and a dead fly next to some dishes. I immediately called the front desk because the last thing I wanted was to bring one them home with me. The person who answered the phone was not surprised. She mentioned that the rooms are sprayed once a month, but that she would send someone in the mo

Loved it! Best hotel experience ever on Earth! Fantastic! Better than the Westin! Better than luxury condos! I loved the experience of being at Kauai's Hilton Garden Inn. It was my first time on the island of Kauai, and I really wanted a real experience but also luxury. Included in my hotel stay were 1) awesome ukulele lessons by Kalani Joe that had me playing real songs in minutes, 2) awesome hula dancing lessons (that taught me a whole, real hula dance with good technique and with a gorgeous view of the ocean by Kiana, and 3) awesome ti leaf and orchid lei making classes that enabled me to make a complete and beautiful Hawaiian flower necklace from local raw materials (leaves and flowers) by Kiana. We also saw an exciting fire dancing show at the hotel; in this show were the most dangerous, heart-stopping stunts I have ever seen. The show also included hula dancing and beautiful live music. The hotel restaurant/bar, Mamahune's, has the best French fries I have ever tasted and (completely delicious and vegetarian) taro burger with pineapple jam that I liked so much, I would travel to Kauai just to eat the taro burger with pineapple jam. Also at the hotel, the concierge, Courtney, is fantastic and gave us great, real advice that led us to great experiences; she surfs and snorkels and gives good advice. Additionally, the hotel is located right at a state park with the safest (and good) snorkeling right at the beach in front of the hotel, in two ponds protected by rocks. In the larger of the two small protected ponds, I saw bluefin trevally, saddle wrasses, tangs, sergeant major fish, and many more kinds of colorful fish of relatively large size. The hotel offers all good coffee in the morning and chilled, tasty POG (punch) in the afternoon, and the front desk staff led by Amy are great! The vibe of the rooms is relaxing and feels good. Furthermore, the swimming pool is the exact ideal temperature for swimming and just enjoying the pool in daytime or at night and is surrounded by beautiful flowering plants and a spectacular sunset view. Another great thing about this hotel is the interior design: it feels like a movie or TV set for Charlie's Angels. Also, of note, the hotel next to a very important historical and spiritual site for Hawaiians. If you are interested in history, culture, religion, spiritualism, authentic experiences, this site is a place to respectfully visit. Loved this hotel! I want to book another vacation there asap. Great rooms, service, and location! Hotel highlights: Luxury · Great view · Romantic · Quiet · Kid-friendly · Great value Rooms: large rooms, great views, comfy bed, good shower tub, includes refrigerators, cabinets, microwave Nearby activities: protected snorkel/swim area, beach, important historical/spiritual site Safety: very safe Walkability: great. Mamahune's restaurant and bar on the property, very short walk to swimming/snorkeling protected beach area, very short walk to significant historical site Foo

Good access: 10 to 15 minutes drive from the airport. Good for convenience: There were several malls nearby and restaurants, markets and shopping centers were close. Car parking: Overall good, but there is no space after 9pm so you have to use the valet service or walk along the street. Overall, the facilities and location were too good for the price. A hotel that impressed us as a honeycomb.

It's not what it seems. It is a hotel that has very good things and others not so much.
When we arrived we were given a room with a double bed and a sofa bed. We had booked a twin room and were told this was Trip's problem. That they only guarantee the views. All the furniture is wooden and very old. The old sofa, with a thin mattress and perforated sheets...
Finally the next day we were changed to a room with two beds (and sea view) which was much better. However, the furniture was also old.
It is advertised here that the cleaning of the room is daily but it is not true. They clean only one day for stays of at least 5 nights. If you are staying less than a few days and you want the room to be made for you, 50 USD. If you want clean towels, 10USD.
The hotel does not have elevators, so you have to carry your bags up the stairs to the room (on the floor you are on).
Just arriving they charge you 147.45USD in taxes (amenity fee, ta tax, ge tax, county ta tax...).
Good: Prime location, in front of (private) beach, with restaurants, supermarkets and shops next door. The main road is right there. Swimming pool with hammocks and a bar (opens at 3pm).
There is a refrigerator, coffee maker and microwave in the room.

Location is great and the property is extremely clean and quiet. Our room was very outdated ( early 80's for furniture, carpet, bathroom) but clean and everything worked. It was spacious but bare minimum in kitchen for supplies, the coffee pot is super tiny. My only complaint is you can't extend your stay for late check out or additional day, that really impacts people on hikes and etc. We had to pack our stuff out (530am) and couldn't do late check out to come back to pack and shower. The young desk clerks stated policy for late check out was call morning of after 9am. That's ridiculous because most tourist are traveling across island exploring early. We asked at 815pm night before and staff couldn't give us late check out for next day, that's a deal breaker for us coming back to this property and was absolutely not willing to check or call management, for this reason I would avoid property if you have early tours or adventures. No one wants to pack out 5am without opportunity for late check out.

This hotel is right in the middle of everything. Easy walking to restaurants along the beach or shopping in the area. They now have air conditioning in the units. After reading negative reviews we are happy to say there is now a/c, we found a nice beach area to set up chairs and play in the water. Sure there are lots of chickens and roosters but they add to the charm of the area. They did not keep us up since we had a little portable fan to help with noise. Very quiet in the evenings. Down side the pool was cold so we didn’t go in it.

I almost don’t want to write this so I can keep this secret AMAZING hotel in my back pocket. This was our first time in Hawaii and my criteria was to be on the beach in a laid back location. I work in the design industry, so I appreciated the way that the rooms were both laid out and the updated comfortable furnishings. We were in a unit with a beach view on the ground floor. Every morning we would wake up to watch a stunning sunrise and wander slowly on the beach for a stroll with our coffee. We had our teenage daughter with us who had her own closed off area and bathroom. Having 2 bathrooms and a kitchen was incredible. We ended up cooking more than going out due to how expensive all of restaurants are. There were grills located near the pool area that we utilized and laundry services that looked great but we never partook. Having a pool and hot tub was a nice bonus, but we spent most of our time exploring the beaches so we really only dipped in later in the afternoons. The staff was and will be one of my main reasons for returning. They could not have been more accommodating and lovely. Thank you Makanna for jumpstarting our car! Just to begin my accolades of every single person that worked there that we interacted with. Lei was the first person that we met and her calm nature was just so lovely. Shout out to Lehua for driving us to the botanical gardens when our car broke down and for just being such a sweetheart of a person and a wealth of knowledge. We met several of the staff that I can’t recall their names but when I bumped into them in town, it was like seeing an old friend. Thank you to the staff that continuously provided us with clean towels and renewed our tp and paper towels. We met Juliette one afternoon and she was so sweet. Chawaka, Sierra and Dayna, our stay was perfect because of the care that you took. I cannot wait to return, too bad that we love soo far away. Until next time 🤙❤️🤙❤️🤙❤️

Mmae-xuVery nice hotel, sitting on the balcony to watch the scenery, swimming pool downstairs, snorkeling by the sea, especially there is a big supermarket within 7-8 minutes walk, the hotel breakfast is very rich, and the food in the restaurant is also delicious, it is worth experiencing again.
MmiguediazgFor the cost of the hotel, the experience is disappointing as a result of the bad service of the staff. The service of the front desk, concierge and bar staff (all located in the lobby) is very good but once you get out of the lobby everything changes, the staff is not attentive and the service is that of a 2-star hotel. At the pool I had to go out twice to ask for a couple of beers because the waitress I asked for them forgot to talk to other customers (half an hour waiting for a beer), at breakfast the waiters are literally more concerned with cleaning tables than by taking guests' order. The restaurant was almost empty and yet they leave guests waiting for a table and when you finally sit down you have to fight for the waiter to see you and once you do, he asks you to wait and starts collecting dishes from other tables. Outside my room we found the day of our check-in some dirty glasses and plates which were never removed during our entire stay, nobody supervises the cleanliness or the quality. The only thing that is worth it is the view from the pool and the beach, but for the price of the hotel we expected much more, there is a Westin nearby and it is surely a better option.
GGuest UserA very nice place to stay once you swallow the price. The resort was very clean. People friendly and they are very flexible. Check out was at 10am but they accommodate holding luggage and provide a hospitality room for 30 minutes to clean up after that. They allowed us to use the resort facilities all day after check out. That was very special.
GGuest UserMy crew & I recently spent a week at this vacation club. We really enjoyed the time and found everyone at the hotel team to be helpful and quick. As 4 adults, we found the place spacious , well equipped kitchen and loved the balcony. The grounds, garden and pools were really nice and well kept. A couple of times we texted for trash pick up and towel refreshes and the team was there in 10 minutes or less. Jose was super helpful. The hotel beach was nice, we rented an umbrella one day to get some shade. Poipu beach is just a short walk away and there were sea turtles! Lei making class was a fun activity to kick off the vacation. I would say good choices were pretty limited at the hotel and we went out or cooked in the room for most meals. I would recommend this location to others seeking a great place to stay in Kauai.
GGuest UserThe location is awesome and very near the town centre. The food choices around the hotel are great. The hotel room we got (Level 1) faces the beach and it’s great, except that it is not the cleanest as we saw 1 lizard and at least 10 cockroaches. That may be due to the room being on Level 1. We did not bother changing room as we were there for a short while only and we had unpacked all of our items by the time we realize the presence of all the creepy crawlies. The amenities are good, with laundry, ice machine and microwave. The breakfast buffet is forgettable but the service staff are all nice.
Our family rented 7 different condos for wedding. Each one was different decorated and layout - the Banyon was perfect. Location is excellent - close to airport, ABC Store, etc. Walk to beautiful beach, stroll along the path near Marriott and Dukes - at night tiki lights . Had 2bed/2bath for my husband and 2 adult sons. It was a nice separation. The kitchen had dishwasher, coffee machine, pots, silverware, plates, microwave, refrigerator - we cooked breakfast. Able to see the Disney Wonder from pool area - very nice - pool area has BBQ, showers, bathrooms (didn’t use but were in good condition). Parking can be tight at times, but we always found a parking spot near by condo. Enjoyed the chickens. There are fancier places to stay - but much more expensive with parking and resort fees - for the price - Great stay - I would come back.
GGuest UserThis is a good resort if you can get a reasonable rate, which we did. If you book directly through the resort the prices seem high for the value. One of the jacuzzis did not work and the other one was quite crowded during our stay. The location was good and reaching all areas of the island was easy and convenient. The lounge had good service, drinks, food and entertainment nightly which was a good plus. We found the staff to be very helpful and polite. I would think this resort would be good for families. The rooms are a little dated but it appears that upgrades are being made. The rooms really need a sheer curtain on the sliding door to the lanai. We found the big wooden plantation doors that you slide close to be bothersome and clumsy. We would stay here again due to the great staff and welcoming service we received.
The Hotel Coral Reef was a disappointment, as was the whole trip. The family who managed the hotel were lovely… very friendly and helpful. But, the absentee owner didn’t care about the place. It desperately needed a coat of paint… the walls were dirty. Obviously hadn’t been kept up in general… just looked rundown. The room wasn’t very clean… we wiped all the counters down, the bathroom and side tables. The drawers were so dirty, I couldn’t put my clothes in them. There was a washer and dryer available for guests, but they were dirty around the openings, so I wiped them down. $2 for the washer and the dryer was free. They had bikes available, for free, but they were so rusty and corroded with salt and sand that we had trouble getting them to work. The day we left, they received 2 new bikes. Such a shame since the location was very good, right on the beach. The views were awesome!!! Would never go to Kauai again anyways… it is overrun with chickens. They are everywhere. You can’t walk barefoot on the grass because of the chicken poop. And the roosters are cock-a-doodling all day and all night. On the day we left we had to be out of our room by 11:00, but our flight didn’t leave until midnight. The hotel said they would watch our bags but there was no washroom that we could use… so we would have to use the public ones on the beach, which were filthy. There is a huge problem with homeless people. Someone told us about “Resort Pass”… you can pay to hang out at a nice hotel for the day, use their facilities and restaurants . We went to the Sheraton and that was the best part of the week! It was lovely. They even try to get rid of the chickens!
DDirectorofCinemaRetHonestly, I had high expectations for this location. I did get an email after I booked this hotel that there would be inconveniences from certain construction work. When I arrived the property is beautifully manicured. Staff were friendly and cordial. At my room I walked in and no bed. Wasn't the same picture as what was on the web site. Just a couch but thought there was a next room. Nope. Turned out it was a ”Murphy bed” Never slept in one, wasn't shown how to get it out of the wall. but I figured it out. Danger, It is heavy and for someone a bit more disabled, if it did fall on me, there would be no one around to help. First you have to remove all the couch pillows (all of them). then you have to re-arrange the two coffee tables to the side of the room. You pull down on the small knobs and hold the bed with your shoulders while you lower it. You will have to reach up with your arm to bring the iron rod over the end of the bed. This rod is the brace footing for the front of the bed. You must do this before it is lowered to the floor. After that, you can untangle the mattress. The pillows are in the closet so you have to fetch them. I was worried it would be another futon experience, you know hard uncomfortable. For me, because I am disabled, It would of been nice to have assistance. The phone in the room was difficult to figure out and did not work properly. When I finally got a line to the valet the intercom sounding voice was hard to comprehend. I couldn't call using my phone because there was no cellular service from my room. Overall, the hotel is dated. A once magnificent hotel when built is aged, carpet aged, furniture aged. I hope the upgrade includes a total hotel refresh and just not the pool area. I would recommend they put in the description of the rooms it is a murphy bed. To me personally, this was not acceptable and I worried about my own safety while manually moving a large wooden wall panel down that was heavy. I wouldn't book this room if I had known. I don't know how many rooms at this hotel had murphy beds, but please mention this in your room descriptions. I would rather see a regular bed frame in my own opinion and my own wellbeing because I am disabled. Secondly, when swimming my room key got lost. I noticed it when I was deep into the hotel at my room. There are no service phones anywhere on my floor (3rd) to call for help. Remember, no cellular service. I had to re-walk to the other side of the property to the reception desk to ask for replacement key. They wouldn't give me a replacement unless I had a physical ID.Everything was in my room. I walked back to the other side of the property back to my room.Security met me at my room to open my door so I can go in and get my DL. Is there an alternative way to get replacement keys like face recognition on your phone, implement remote key from your app (hilton does) or a better method? Not recommended for people with disabilities if there is a murphy bed. Beautiful proper
GGuest UserWe went here twice for breakfasts during our stay in Kauai........can't beat the food, service or prices! Both times we were seated immediately even though the restaurant was very busy. My French Toast and Sausage was good (ordered it twice!).....they were out of the sweet bread that was supposed to be the main ingredient, but all was fine with the usual white bread. My spouse tried their pancakes and omelets........both with Spam as his side dish..and he enjoyed both. The servers use carts to set the tables/deliver food/clean tables........VERY quick & efficient! Definitely a very popular spot for locals!!!!!!!
