Hampton Inn Manhattan-Madison Square Garden Area

Fantastic location - 4 minutes drive walk from Madison Square Garden & Penn Train Station/ 7 minutes from Time Square / 7 minutes walk to Empire State Building. The hotel is small,, small cramped room, small dining area but functional. The daytime lady receptionist was lovely and helpful. Because of the location the hotel was acceptable as a base for sightseeing weekend but that would be all to expect.

Very disappointing experience. The room was extremely small, and the air conditioning was not functioning properly. I reported the issue, and while it was temporarily fixed, it stopped working again during the night. I requested either an immediate repair or a room change, but I was told there were no rooms available and was asked to wait until the next day. Spending the night without a working AC was very uncomfortable. I expected much better service and a prompt resolution from a Hampton Inn. Unfortunately, this stay did not meet my expectations.

Excellent location with a supermarket right across the street, plenty of restaurants and coffee shops nearby, and convenient access to both the subway and bus. My first night was challenging due to loud music from the neighboring room for several hours. The guests next door also left a used diaper in the hallway, which created an unpleasant odor. Thankfully, the staff were very helpful and promptly moved me to another room, which resolved the issue. The twin room felt a bit cramped, as the two beds left limited space for opening luggage and moving around comfortably. Plenty of towels were provided, but a few had visible stains or stray hairs. The property is somewhat dated, with visible wear on furniture in both the rooms and common areas.The hotel offers free breakfast, which is a nice bonus, though the dining area could be cleaner. Overall, this is a budget-friendly option in a very convenient location. The facilities could use some updates and the soundproofing could be improved, but the staff were helpful and responsive when issues arose, and I felt it offered reasonable value for the price.

The room itself was clean and comfortable, and the beds were genuinely restful. Breakfast was decent — nothing extraordinary, but a solid start to the day. What significantly soured our stay was a complete lack of transparency around their deposit policy. At no point during the booking process were we informed that a $250 security deposit would be required upon check-in. This came as a shock when we arrived at our room and were told we had to hand over $250 upfront. Making matters worse, we were told the refund would take 7–10 business days to process. For travelers on a budget — or simply anyone who doesn't expect $250 to be tied up without prior notice — this is a serious inconvenience. As of writing this review, the refund has still not been returned to us. Hidden fees and undisclosed charges are a dealbreaker. The room quality is good, but hotels have a basic obligation to be upfront about costs. I'd recommend they update their booking process to clearly communicate this policy. Until then, travelers should be prepared to have $250 held without warning.

The location of the hotel is very near the Penny station. There have a lot of restaurants in that area. The staffs are very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good.

Overall good hotel but rooms are quiet small for double beds

The location is fantastic — just steps from Penn Station and Herald Square. The room was cleaned every day, and there’s an abundance of food carts, cafés, and bakeries nearby. While the room is a bit small and doesn’t include a kettle for tea, we still had a wonderful stay and felt it was worth the price. Their breakfast for all is also a plus point.
