InterContinental Hotels Porto - Palacio Das Cardosas

No words.... Has been a trip INSIDE a subway construction area .... And I am not kidding unfortunately. I have reserved a single room kind bed. At beginning the reception assigned me one room at 4th floor exactly in front of jackhammer operators, which made the same noises as in war scenario with 2 beds. Then after my immediate big complain reception have assigned me another room, #209. Different scenario : that was in front of a concrete grinding crane arrives from 8pm in the morning until 10pm in the evening. at 7am the noises of the vehicles began with the relative movement alarm and in the evening after 10pm the workers who hammer gradually finished at 1am in the night. all i have timed videos to prove my experience. I asked several times to assign me a room ON OTHER SIDE (that are outside the ”war operation area”) but answer was always _ ”SORRY SIR, THE ROOM ON BACKSIDE ARE FULL AND WE DO NOT HAVE SPACE AVAILABLE” . Today at check out I have asked a discount, as feedback the receptionist charged me 20EUR more for 2 peer juices I have got from minibar...... I do not know how to describe this experience, I have been many times in Intercontinental and I have been always satisfied.... BESIDE THIS LAST TRIP THAT IS REALLY SOMETHING I WANT TO FORGET Travellers' take extreme care going there !! At least until the subway works under room balcony are finished !!! Can not upload pictures the website tell me ”unable to lad” but I can sent ll of them separately

We stayed here 2 nights. Hotel is centrally located located In a quiet square. We could easily walk to all the sites and there was a bus stop near the hotel (Bus 207- from the train station, this bus takes you to the hotel). The staff is super friendly and helpful. My husband hurt his knee and each night they gave us free ice. Room is clean and modern, great shower. Quiet hitel- we never heard our neighbors. Some say it's too basic but I loved how big the room was and for me, was all I needed. Only two negatives that prohibited 5 stars:. we had to sleep in twin beds as the hotel said they were full and did not have enough rooms available with double beds. It's true we knew this on booking but was hoping for an improvement. Definitely something for the hotel to consider investing in as the twin beds are uncomfortable for a young couple like us that are used to sleeping together. Second item is the AC is very loud. We had to turn it off at night and open the window. Good thing the square was quiet- it was actually nice to hear the seagulls in the morning. Lastly, €130 a night for a 3 star hotel is a bit too much but could be due to high season. Loved how eco friendly the hotel is- we got a free glass water bottle from them that we could fill in the hallway with filtered water. Bottle is also free to take home. We did not get the breakfast due to price - you can easily eat in the area for €5 a person.

Jardim da Batalha Boutique Hotel by Shiadu

Loved this hotel!. Private balcony overlooking the garden in the older building--stone walls and lots of room. I had stayed at the Casa do Jasmin Boutique Hotel in Lisbon, also a Shiadu hotel; they sent me to this hotel with a note written in Portuguese--I think they asked the management to give me a very nice room! (They are in the process of slip-proofing the showers--if that hasn't been done in your room yet, ask for a mat--the surface is VERY slippery.) I had to leave early in the morning before breakfast, and they sent me off with a boxed meal. Walked everywhere from this hotel, close to the Guindais Funicular. Be sure you walk down Rua das Flores and visit the Palacio da Bolsa and its Arabian Room. Next door is the Wine Institute, the regulatory body for all wine in Portugal, where you visit the beautiful exhibit and sample various types of Port. Take the river ferry over to Gaia and visit the port storage houses and exhibits there. AND DON'T FORGET THE CHOCOLATE MUSEUM!

DO NOT GET ROOMS 51, 41, 31, 21 (next to elevator) otherwise worth a stay. This is a good hotel. However having been here twice, some notes for fellow travelers. - If you are light sleeper like me, DO NOT get any rooms 51 and so on next to the elevators. WOW it is not stop intermittent mechanical noise night and day. - Try and get a top floor room with a terrace. The other rooms are not bad, yet they have the wood flooring that looks cool and works fine, yet when house keeping starts their clean ups, they slide the beds over the wood which makes for more noise if you are trying to sleep in late. - Bed is comfortable, bathroom is sizable, but not too large. - Hotel is very new-school contemporary. - Breakfast is good. Coffee machine is the usual auto job, whatever… - House keeping could be bit more detail focused. There was a smashed bug on the wall near the bed. No big deal, yet a simple wipe with a sponge would have covered that.

The best is its location just a few meters from the church of San Ildefonso, very close to the station São Bento, Rua Santa Catarina, Avenue Aliados and Bolhão market, really for a short visit is perfect because you come to all the points of interest in The hotel is close to the Santiago Café with the best French girls. As regards the hotel facilities, it enters stairs, has no lift so there is no accessibility for people with reduced mobility, and the entry card is deleted, so it is expensive to be located, the staff's attention is good; We were given a double bed + single bed, we saw there were others better but for the price we paid we didn't complain; the bathroom is small and the laundry is out of the bathroom, this was practical, it is a hotel to go to sleep and now. How positive, they have extra beds and as negative, the walls were screwed by the baggage year and did not paint it in good time, making it look dirty, but the room, The hotel was very comfortable and the hotel was very comfortable.

Excellent! I loved it. They welcomed me warmly, they were very kind, and the service was the best. Another advantage is that I can have breakfast comfortably in my room.
My Story Apartments Porto - Santa Catarina
