A pretty and clean hotel , ideal for summer stays, however we stayed in December. When we arrived the radiator was put on in our room. It was so cold that we had to put our coats on the bed at night. There was no extra throw like most places. Luckily I had a new tweed coat. Still cold and we had come down from North of Scotland and have never encountered such a cold room in a hotel. Maybe a castle would be an exception. A pretty place but would have liked some cosiness. The shower requires some attention. The place is beautifully clean , but the management need to ensure a physically warmer welcome for those customers in December. We were so cold, we dare not take the risk of eating there, although downstairs looked cosy.

Really poor. Room 5 (21/12/24) was freezing, the heating either switched off on inoperable in December. No one available to speak with at the time. £120 for a freezing room and a skimpy continental breakfast of toast and cheap cereal. Avoid.

Dissapoiting to say the least. Scruffy, can't get your legs under the tables as the tables aren't high enough. A ramshackle of old uncomfortable chairs to sit on. The menu- would have been OK if we had received what was described on the menu. Hand cooked chips? No way! Cheap frozen ones. Salad with the main? Again, no way, just a pinch of sad leaves. Four wrong part orders for just a few of us The whole place needs a damn good clean. You know what the saying is: judge a place by its toilets hmmmmm! Could do an awful lot better.

My fiancé and I stayed here on the dinner bed and breakfast deal for Valentines day this year £119 for the whole thing which we thought was a real bargain especially on V day where everywhere else bump their prices up, the place itself is lovely and the food beautiful however we were left disappointed with the room :-( the room was nice and clean however the shower didn't work properly and I had to have a cold shower, and the toilet was practically coming off the floor, we had to balance to sit on it incase it fell over, also the noise from other rooms was quite inconsiderate, TV blasting at full volume till around midnight and then again at 6am, so sadly we didn't have a great sleep, I know there isn't much we can do about inconsiderate guests and it is no reflection on the Malthouse itself as the staff and over all experience of everything else was really good, but maybe a polite notice put in the rooms about noise and being considerate to other guests? :-) we would def return for the food, Drink and ambience as it really is a lovely place, however we wouldn't stay over again unfortunately.

Excellent £99 overnight stay with meals included. The Sunday roast choices and standards were worth the trip from London. V helpful staff, Decor is very good throughout, room was small but ideal, wit comfie bedding, Wi-Fi and en suite breakfasts were great too Highly recommended, event the roads to the palace were good, particularly for a motorbike

We had the most wonderful weekend at the Malthouse. Staff are so friendly, always smiling, cannot do enough for you. We ate in both evenings and the food was fantastic with huge portions. There was lots of choice on the breakfast menu and again the food was wonderful . The room was very clean and very comfortable. Comprehensive guest folder in the room had lots of information . Only problem l had was the stairs to the rooms but they do mention that on their website. I would definitely recommend and l will definitely be returning.

This was a two night break at the Malthouse. It was a lovely old Inn with traditional decor. The room was comfortable and clean. Our host, Andy, and all the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfasts were superb, as were evening meals. It turned out to be a very enjoyable trip. The gardens at the back have been turned into a superb outdoor venue with a bar and seating area. Perfect for a wedding or other event. The location of the Malthouse is excellent for visiting Sowerby Bridge and Halifax.

Excellent service by very friendly and helpful staff. The specials for the evening offered the Fish Platter for two to share, so we gave it a go. A varied selection of perfectly cooked fish and more than enough for two, in fact too much for us, so no room for dessert sadly. Highly recommended.
