Dom Hotel Roma - Preferred Hotels & Resorts

Navona Rome|2.93km from Church and Monastery of Saint Claire
This atmospheric and well located hotel is at the very top of our list of hotels to stay in while in Rome. We needed to be at the Vatican everyday; this hotel was perfectly positioned so that we could easily access the Vatican on foot - and also so close to Campo de Fiore and Piazza Navona and the Pantheon (and surrounding neighborhoods), it was easy to find wonderful food after a short walk. (It was also an easy walk to the Forum and the Colosseum). Our double deluxe room was large, with huge windows, an extremely comfortable and large bed and plenty of storage (a built in closet). The bathroom was quite big with good lighting and an excellent hair dryer. Breakfast at the hotel is not to be missed - it was lavish (and was included in our stay) and changed every day (there were always different pastries, quiche, tiny breakfast sandwiches, along with a 'permanent' bar of cereals, juices, the MOST delicious fruit and yogurts). I believe that most of their breads and pastries were made on premise - which is very impresive, given how good they were! The hotel was exceedingly clean in all aspects and the staff was truly wonderful - happy and attentive. I read previous complaints about noise from the carabinieri stationed across the street in front of their building - but it seems that the hotel has installed soundproof windows, so it was easy enough to create a quiet room. It's a lively neighborhood (although this section of Via Giulia isn't lined with bars and restaurants), but the spillover from nearby establishments can sound like a party if you choose to open your windows. We found Hotel Dom very comfortable and accommodating and highly recommend it.

Unicum Roma Suites

Rome|0.4km from Church and Monastery of Saint Claire
My partner and I have recently visited Rome (May 2022) and stayed at Unicum Roma Suites. What can I say? We had a superb stay at Unicum. The hotel is situated within a residential building in a safe, pretty, quiet, urban district of Rome, just over an hour's walk from the centre. Check-in was swift, all done online, very modern. A couple of days prior to our arrival, we were contacted by Davide (the 'receptionist' - sorry, not sure what their official title was!) via WhatsApp who explained the self-check in process to us. Once we got to the hotel, entering the building and getting our key was super easy and fast. Our room was spotless, we had our own modern en-suite (had shampoo, conditioner, soap, shower caps, hairdryer), a huge double bed (mattress was SO comfortable - best night sleep in a hotel for me!), a TV, a safe, a kettle with teas & coffee, a minibar, and a balcony with a great view of public gardens (or was it part of the tennis club next door...?). Our room was cleaned every day, and even though our mini bar wasn't working (staff were hugely apologetic - we didn't need to use the mini bar tho :) ), there was a communal kitchen with a large fridge which we were told we could use. There was also a coffee station in the kitchen which we used a couple of times. Getting to the hotel was super easy - on our first day reaching the hotel, we decided to get the metro from Termini to Baglio Degli Ubaldi. We then walked through Villa Pamphili, which was absolutely gorgeous. This walk was about 30 mins long. For the rest of our trip, we used the tram. It was super convenient to use this mode of transport, as the tram stop (Casaletto) was less than 5 minutes away (walking) from the hotel, which was also the last stop of the tram line into town. It cost 1.50 euros for a one-way ticket (easily bought at nearby cafe DreamsWorld or tobacco shop), and the tram heading to Piazza Venezia got you to the Altare de la Patria in about 30 mins, then it was 10 min walk to the Colosseum. Being the first/last stop in the tram route, we always had seats on the tram (I had a leg injury so this was a lifesaver). Conclusion - hotel was in a GREAT location with amazing travel connections into town. Trastevere is - in our opinion - the best district for food & drinks, and was only a few stops away from the hotel. Davide was super fast in responding to any of our questions via WhatsApp, made sure we were comfortable, replaced any bathroom amenities we'd run out ASAP, and was great in giving us recommendations for travel and nearby grub. We weren't able to visit Trattoria de Cesare (was closed on our visit), but we did visit nearby seafood restaurant Bolina 157 which was decently priced (for us Brits) and made the best seafood dishes I've ever had in my life! My partner doesn't eat seafood, so they whacked up an amazing Carbonara for him. Unicum gave us breakfast tokens for a nearby coffee bar, which we really appreciated, but we left the hotel so early every day - we d

We stayed here for 10 nights on business and the hotel was lovely apart from the food and beverage options which were dire. I was in a twin room and there was a good amount of space, it was quiet and had all the plugs and amenities you would wish for. The hotel is a little way out of Rome centre so you should factor in prices for taxis each way - there really is nothing around the hotel without a 20 min walk with a significant hill and minimal pavements! The pool area was beautiful - and the spa was pretty good - I had a massage which was quite nice. The big issue, especially with the lack of restaurants around the hotel is the absolutely awful food and beverage service. The bar only does ‘toasties’ which are very expensive and not worth the money. We could not get into the restaurant as it was always ‘booked’ despite a lot of empty tables. When we did look at the menu it was very limited. This is the one thing that would put me off returning - if they improvised this part then the hotel would be a great place to stay.

We stayed at this beautifully, recently renovated boutique hotel outside the city center but close enough to attractions. The staff was exceptionally polite, professional and friendly. The rooms were clean, comfortable and modern. We arrived prior to check in and ate at the restaurant while we waited. The food was excellent! Two of the nights we were there, there was a DJ which created a nice hangout vibe without leaving the space. The breakfast was typical Italian and fresh. The AC worked great and was a relief coming back from the summer heat wave when outside. Overall excellent hotel and staff. Will definitely recommend and would stay again!!!!

The hotel is very close to the Vatican, said to be ordinary but given a house with a balcony. There are no slippers in the hotel. Although there is no breakfast, breakfast can be eaten directly at the restaurant without paying separately. The main guests of the hotel are German senior tour groups. The air conditioner can't be turned on, and the bathroom has heating on this day, which is very strange.
