I stayed here for a few nights sharing a room while on a tour. I thought it was great. The rooms were massive with amazing views and very clean, and the beds were comfortable with a choice to have extra blankets if needed. The bathroom was spotless and the shower was pretty good, and there was a bidet. My experience was that the area was very peaceful and quiet, but I was in a room at the front; I think some of our group had rooms at the back and they could occasionally hear people exiting the bar late at night. I loved the pool in the ba*****t, a good size. There was also a small gym with cardio equipment next to it. I didn’t check out the roof terrace as I’ve only just realised it had one! The food was great. Breakfast had a good choice including cooked, though I kept to continental style. Coffee was very good. The dinners were very tasty and the portions very generous! I shared with my roommate a couple of times and we still had more than enough. Location was fantastic. There’s a market opposite and lots of shops and a big supermarket nearby, and the start of excellent trails. There are beautiful parks here and some good restaurants too. Another thing I loved was their bilingual parrot at the front who said hello to everyone. S/he went to sleep quite early though so no sound at night. During our tour we stayed in three different hotels around Madeira and this is the one I’d return to if I was travelling back, it’s great value with friendly staff and fantastic amenities and location.
