We have been going to Gambia on and off for 20 years. I have stayed at the old Kombo Beach and was never disappointed, this year I was disgusted. We booked 7/2/24 for a premium pool view, 13/10/24 we received information to say our rooms were not available as the furniture had not arrived for block C, the pool room views are block A. We accepted that as we had booked direct and therefore not paid anything, that package deals would be honoured so we took the change to the Tamala……. 48 hrs before flying (11/11/24) we received a WhatsApp saying we had now been moved back to Kombo Beach but they could only put us in a garden view room! (Block B). We arrived about 8:30 pm to be taken to a room that was dangerous as all the laminate flooring was sticking up, AND our garden view was of block C. As you can see by the photos, if the furniture had arrived there was no where to put it. After much debacle we stayed that night and next morning expected a change back to Tamala…. Next morning: no rooms at the Tamala, however, after discussions two rooms “became available “. We eventually had a great stay at the Tamala. The Kombo gave us AI for our one and only night with them,, don’t bother with it. There was very limited availability of drinks even though there was a full stock of drinks in the paying bar. They have certainly ruined the Kombo Beach. I have written to the Kombo and to the owning leisure group but have not had any response, not even an apology, I did receive an email asking if I had enjoyed my stay as a “valued guest”
