July 2023 Vacation Stay: 5 days/4 nights Good Stuff • The hotel inside and out is very clean and landscaped beautifully. No litter, lots of flowers and fauna. Very good appearance. Two pools, one inside, one outside, and a hot tub. Convenient parking and lots of it. Attentive front desk folks. I felt safe here. • The breakfast was always top notch. Very good. Coffee available 24/7 from the lobby. Very clean and nice exercise room. This bears repeating because it’s important to me: The breakfast was always great. • The room A/C was very good. Outside, it was 93°, room temp was a nice 70° • Our room had plenty of towels in the bathroom. There was also an iron and ironing board for use in the room. • Available: Room Service. This is rare. Bad Stuff • OMG. The hotel temperature outside of our room was in the 90°s. This was INside, not outside! Breakfast room included, at 8am. No building A/C. What? Try eating breakfast at 7am when it’s 90° - terrible. This was every day, all week. This single thing would prevent me from every going back there. • NO room mini fridge, no room microwave. I have never stayed at a Hampton Inn without both or either one. I just expect it. What? This was almost a deal breaker, but fortunately we got through 5 days with a cooler and lots of ice. So noted – the 3rd floor ice machine never failed. • The bathroom sink needed to be running a FULL 5-10 minutes or MORE in order to start some hot water. No kidding. The shower did not seem to have this problem. Very inconvenient. Also, about the bathroom, there was no air vent/fan. When you took a shower, the steam just collected – no where to escape. I have also found this same thing at other Hampton Inns. I just don’t understand why there is no way to suck out the hot, humid air. • This is just me I guess, but the showers only had large bottles of shampoo, conditioner, and body wash for all guests to use, glued to the shower wall. Nope, not for me. I prefer my own personal bar soap and shampoo instead of sharing with everybody. • No daily housekeeping service. This is the new Hampton/Hilton policy. The maids cleaned and tidied rooms every 5 days. We could call the front desk if we needed fresh towels, but otherwise, nope. I guess this is signs of the times. I could excuse housekeeping every other day, or even every third day, but not a full five days there. To me, this is just not acceptable. No housekeeping - at all - period. Conclusion • Clearly, this was the worst Hampton experience I’ve ever had. Knowing what I know now, I would not have picked this hotel, with so many other choices in the immediate area. • Out of 10, I would score this Hampton a 3 or 4.

This is a wonderful property staffed by some of the nicest people you will ever meet. The GM of this Best Western was very kind to my grandson and I. Neal took extra time to go out of his way to let my 7-year old grandson and I know about a recreation area where we were able to play ball. This might seem like a small gesture of kindness, but it meant the world to this grandpa and his grandson. Thanks Neal! The rooms are great, the king bed we had was just right. We look forward to staying at the BW Historic District in Williamsburg again soon.

Location reasonable, cleanliness fair, but poorly maintained, and not much in the hospitality department. I was traveling by myself, so I consciously chose a modest hotel in a decent location, but I had experienced the most modest and chose to pay just a little bit more for maybe not rock bottom. It was a disappointment even on that metric. The sink was cracked and poorly repaired. The shower stall looked as if it had been done on someone's first day on the job, and the bed was the most uncomfortable I ever had paid for. The Wifi was very wonky and glitchy. The worst came later, though. When I honestly reported the above in a survey from the hotel, the GM emailed me back, and in all caps basically invited me to never stay in an Econolodge again. No worries. These people should not be in the hospitality business.

We spent 2 nights in the Lewis colonial house, which turned out to be perfect for our family of 3 adults and 3 children: it gave us privacy and insulated neighbors from our noise at a very reasonable price. The small kitchen area has a microwave and small refrigerator but no dishes; the housekeeper kindly left us dish soap and a sponge but it would be useful to have the house stocked with those and a few dishes. The location of the house was excellent, very convenient to everything. There was plenty to do and we'd like to come back. I'd like to hear more about the experience of enslaved people and free people of color in the early republic: more tours, performances, and also demonstrations of how and where they and other serving people worked. Where did they sleep? What did they eat and wear? What were living conditions like? More interactive and hands on experiences for children would also be useful. And throughout the dialogue needs to be captioned if not translated to be more audible/accessible and for non-native English speakers.

Hotel location is good, the environment is beautiful. It is located in the historical and cultural reserve of Williamsburg, very close to William and Mary College and less than 10 minutes by car. The room is large and the view from the window is picturesque. Thumbs up!

Childhood friends got together for a much needed reunion. We all 3 loved our stay at this Hampton Inn. The hotel was very clean and our rooms were both clean and well appointed. The beds were very comfortable. The morning breakfast was good as far as hotel breakfast goes and the staff worked very hard to keep it stocked and to keep tables clean. Saturday was extremely busy and they did a wonderful job of keeping everything stocked. My only complaint about the breakfast was that the toasters didn’t work very well. The hotel is very centrally located to Colonial Williamsburg and quite a few nice restaurants. I highly recommend this hotel.
