I had a spa day today, with afternoon tea - the spa was superb, exactly as it was on previous visits. Unfortunately, the afternoon tea was awful. The bread was stale, which the waitress acknowledged when she touched it - and asked if we would like another sandwich to replace it - which we didn’t. When we moved onto the cakes, they were also stale. I do think that this could have been a mix up, prepared too early and left out uncovered, therefore the bread and cake had gone hard. When we went to leave the restaurant, a senior member of staff asked it everything was ok - it clearly wasn’t as we hadn’t really eaten anything. I explained about the food being stale, to which she replied “yes I am aware, I’ve made a compensation of £2 on your drinks bill”. Her comment was an absolute insult. I believe that the afternoon tea is £58 and it was deemed appropriate to discount it by £2, when the entire meal was inedible! A shame about the meal and the service but the managers response was a disgrace. Highly recommend the spa but forget about the meal.
