When craving Hainanese chicken rice (or Hainan), made from soft Benja chicken, and looking for a variety of other menu options, 'Hainan' comes to mind. This franchise, part of the Five Star chain, has many branches. This time, we visited the new branch in the heart of the city, located in the basement of C.P. Tower Silom, and ordered a big meal as follows: ➡️ Steamed Benja Chicken (size M) This dish highlights the smooth and delicate texture of Benja chicken. At first glance, you can see that the chicken's muscle fibers are not coarse like ordinary chicken. The meat is tender but not mushy, and the skin melts in your mouth. Served with soy sauce and hot chicken rice, it's truly delicious. We really like the chicken rice here; the grains are soft, well-arranged, and fragrant with chicken fat, making everything taste great. ➡️ Crispy Fried Chicken The highlight of the fried chicken here is the crispy batter that's fun to chew and not greasy, maintaining its crunchiness for a long time. Even when this dish is served with spicy salad dressing, the batter doesn't get soggy, enhancing the flavor significantly. This dish goes well with either plain rice or chicken rice. ➡️ Pork Bone and Bamboo Shoot Soup The bamboo shoots are tender, cooked with pork bones in a smooth and savory broth, making for a delightful soup. ➡️ Bok Choy with Oyster Sauce Stir-fried bok choy with a thick, slightly sweet and salty oyster sauce makes for a balanced vegetable dish that pairs very well with chicken rice.
