Krumlov, a dreamy town surrounded by mountains and rivers

Krumlov, an ancient town in South Bohemia, is about 180 kilometers away from the capital Prague, which also nestles on the Vltava River. In Czech, the literal meaning of Krumlov is 'shoal in the river bend', which vividly describes the environmental characteristics of this mini ancient town. The Vltava River bends in a U-shape here, and the center of the U-shape, or the ancient town area surrounded by the river, is filled with historical buildings dating back to the 14th century; on the hills outside the U-shape, there is Krumlov Castle, second only to Prague Castle in scale, and the castle garden.
