No one can resist the view of Mount Meili from the windows of the Songzan Meili Mountain Lodge; one glance and you'll never forget it. Excitement, joy, amazement—there are so many words in my heart that cannot describe its beauty, the shock brought by the visual experience. To this day, only Mount Meili has made me marvel at the natural wonder of the world. A snow mountain can be so perfectly majestic and elegant, both words apply to it. The Golden Sunrise over Mount Meili is said to bring good luck for the entire year to those who see it. Having seen the Golden Sunrise over Mount Meili, I think it would be hard for me to be amazed by the sunrise over other snow mountains. Seeing the Golden Sunrise over Mount Meili requires some luck; some people wait several days without seeing its full glory, often hidden behind clouds. It's not easy to see it completely unobstructed by clouds. I believe the best viewing spot for Mount Meili is not the Feilai Temple, although you can see its entirety from there; the best spot to watch the Golden Sunrise is at Wunongding, where, weather permitting, you can see the transition from white to rose gold to gold from around 7:00 to 7:10 in the morning. The rooms at Songzan Meili Mountain Lodge with a view of the snow mountain allow you to see the entire Mount Meili. If the weather is good, at 6:50 in the morning, the hotel staff will wake you up, and you can see the 6740-meter Mount Meili standing before you as soon as you open your eyes. Songzan Meili is, in my opinion, the most worthwhile Songzan series hotel to stay in Yunnan, and the best hotel to watch the Golden Sunrise over Mount Meili. The road to the hotel might still be under construction; it's not easy for sedans to get up there, and an off-road vehicle is recommended. Upon arrival, the staff will prepare ginger tea and inform you that they are at your service at any time during your stay. The hotel lobby consists of Songzan's own boutique shop and the check-in sofa area. Each Songzan boutique shop sells slightly different products. I stayed in a snow mountain view room on the third floor, which is about 35 square meters in size and accessible by elevator. After all, the altitude is quite high, and climbing stairs is tiring. Upon entering the room, welcome fruits and snacks were already prepared. I like every wooden table in the Songzan rooms. There's a faint scent of wood in the room. The room is not particularly large, but the living room is comfortable, with a bed, sofa, luggage cabinet, desk, and tatami by the window, each just right. Songzan's bedding is among the softest and most comfortable in the Tibetan area hotels, and comfortable sleep at high altitudes is especially important. Each guest has a pair of Songzan cloth shoes, which seem to have been upgraded with a thicker sole. The bathroom is a bit small, with a single basin, and the bath products are from the Thai brand Erb. The geranium essential oil soap is really good and a treasure. The minibar's glass bottled water is recommended to be boiled before use, and the drinks in the fridge are free. Each room includes a double afternoon tea at the hotel's 6th-floor bar. The afternoon tea doesn't have a wide variety of pastries, but I give high marks to the freshly squeezed juices, of which there are two kinds. Breakfast is on the fifth floor, with a rich variety of fruits, though not much else. Most people have a bowl of beef rice noodles and freshly fried eggs in the morning. I think it's already quite an achievement to offer several kinds of freshly squeezed juices in the morning. This is one of the must-stay Songzan hotels and a gem of the Songzan series. I highly recommend it for its good service, comfortable bedding, cleanliness, and most importantly, the most comfortable way to watch Mount Meili.
