Sanmenhai National Geopark in Hechi, Guangxi

Sanmenhai Scenic Area is a world geopark, China's most beautiful national geopark, a national AAAA-level scenic spot, the source of world longevity, the world's only water-tour doline group, and the core zone of the world's typical karst landforms. The Sanmenhai Scenic Area is located in Poxin Village, Sanmenhai Town, Fengshan County, in the northwest of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. It is 280 kilometers from Nanning, 380 kilometers from Guilin, 160 kilometers from Baise City, 180 kilometers from Hechi City, 40 kilometers from the world-famous longevity town of Bama County, and 22 kilometers from Fengshan County Town. A secondary road runs through the scenic area. Sanmenhai Tourist Scenic Area is currently the only scenic area in the world confirmed by the World Cave Association as a water-tour doline. It is a tourist area in our region that integrates natural landscapes, longevity culture, and revolutionary historical relics, with an international level of tourism quality. The Sanmenhai skylight group is the largest in scale and the most spectacular in landscape. There are seven karst skylights (dolines) developed here, connected by the surface and underground lakes formed by the outlet section of the Poxin underground river, covering several square kilometers. Currently, three skylights are accessible by boat through natural passages, giving visitors the mysterious feeling of 'seas within the mountains, doors above the seas,' hence the name 'Sanmenhai.' The Sanmenhai Scenic Area has as many as seven skylights, forming a string of skylights in a row, arranged in a Beimen seven-star pattern, which is unique in the world's tourism resources. The famous Italian explorer Dr. Nosarioluciri pointed out: 'The spectacle of the Sanmenhai skylight group in Fengshan, with its string of collapses, integrates mountains, water, caves, and sky into one, is rare in the world, truly unique.' Therefore, Sanmenhai is also called the 'Window of the World' by experts and scholars at home and abroad. The Sanmenhai skylight group combines mountains, water, caves, and sky into one, creating a spectacular and mysterious underground river resource, a wonderful and magnificent karst lake, karst springs, large cave groups, doline groups, skylight groups, natural bridges, and other karst landform features, all concentrated in the Sanmenhai Scenic Area, making it a true karst world geopark.
